NEW YEAR DAY
Year’s end is not the end,
Of highway of thy existence,
Or beginning of year is not a key episode,
It is simply an end of a precise period,
From where strands of good experiences,
Ought to be collated and made compact,
So that thy grip on elusive ‘time’,
May not turn slippery,
And fly away,
Resulting frittering in energy,
By thy slackening mind-set,
Or idle chatter.
Last day of the past year,
Or first year of the New Year,
Will dawn with same timekeeping,
Ought not be lost in daydreaming,
Nobody will salvage thy boat,
If encircled by tempest,
Ye’ve to take command of thy oars,
To steer clear of the situation thyself,
No New Year Day or wishful idea will rescue thee,
Mere thyself have to weather the storm,
By thy steely resolve.
O Creator of Universe,
With all the enchanting beauties created,
Beings, Vales, Hills, Rivulets, Flowery Meadows, et al,
Create our everyday lively,
And make this earth worth living,
A better place to breathe,
Free of fear for everyone alike,
Where no brave-heart like ‘Nirbhaya’ (fearless) turns into ‘Bhaya’ (fear),
And meets her/his man-inflicted untimely end,
Where no one cowers in fright,
Ever and ever – day and night,
So that we have not to wait,
The NEW YEAR DAY
For a peaceful leaving.
