HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL : GOOD BYE YEAR 2016 & WELCOME YEAR 2017

GOOD BYE YEAR 2016 & WELCOME YEAR 2017

SEASON’S GREETINGS

As we say goodbye to the year gone by (2016), we must have learnt some sweet and bitter lessons in the year just passed by. Keeping in mind our successes and shortfalls in our efforts / inadequacies and see that we keep the doors of our progress open in the year 2017. Shutting the doors of our improvement means not letting the air of progressive ideas enter our system. Everything hinges on our sincere efforts only. If we want uninterrupted all round progress; we have to accept both criticism and appreciation, learn from the same and move on the next step without losing ourselves in the bargain. Sitting on our some of our laurels our get discouraged if nothing goes well for the time being is not the answer.

For uninterrupted progress in various fields, we have to keep ourselves fully aware of the factors responsible for our multi-dimensional onward march. This way, we shall not only keep ourselves abreast with the time but also contribute in the best possible ways for ourselves and those around us. Some of which are:-

SINCERITY IN OUR EFFORT MATTERS MUCH

It should be our sincere endeavor to put in our best under all situations / conditions while handling our commitments. To turn an untenable / unsuitable situation into suitable one is not possible without our sincerity in our efforts. Although the inner conflicts and contradictions besides external impediments would always be there to block our efforts yet we’ve to have unflinching belief in ourselves and our Creator. Nothing comes in the way when we associate all our deeds with Him – only sincerity in our efforts should be our guidepost to reach to our destination we aspire for.

DELUSIONS OF LIFE

One who possess the notion that life is transient (impermanence of life) will conduct in peace and poise/with equanimity. That person, while facing hardships will have the conviction that any piquant situation will also pass. A person with this trait will always associate with the people who remain detached from the fruits of their karma based on wisdom of Bhagwad Gita. Hard times for such person are for getting experience for further forward march in life; not roadblocks but pathways for journey ahead. Nothing deludes them.

SELFISHNESS LEADS TO OUR ISOLATION

Persons who want to get their things done through their ulterior attitude would face music after sometimes when people would come to know about their real intention. When it is made known to everybody around then their real purpose will come to fore consequently these sorts of people will be isolated as a punishment. Here the precept of Abraham Lincoln holds good: You Can Fool All The People Some Of The Time And Some Of The People All The Time, But You Cannot Fool All The People All The Time.

IMPORTANCE OF GIRLS TO BE FINANCIALLY SECURE

Today, I happened to meet two sisters (one aged 24 yrs and the other one around 30). The former is seeking divorce from her husband after her love marriage simply because she could not pay the increasing demands of her in-laws. She is not able to support her daughter studying in pre-nursery merely because she is not financially secure. To compound the problem, she is not even Graduate! The later although graduate, confided that she does not want to marry because of the reason that she fears her marriage may result in failure like her younger sister. Hence my earnest request for the parents to make their female members educationally competent and financially secure before marriage so that they could lead a life worth living.

OUR KARMA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR LIFE

It should never forget saying: as you sow so shall you get. When we transact any unethical and immoral act, in return too, we shall be getting the same. If we are privy to create our own problems, then it is our duty to explore all possibilities to solve those problems, no matter what the challenges we face. Those who sit tight and do not accept the challenges will not be able to do much in their lives

TO THANK GOD FOR HIS UNLIMITED GRACES

God has graced us with unlimited graces by way of earth to live and crops for our substance, fire for cleansing and cooking, air to breath and also water to drink including meeting other requirements, provided different organs of our body for performing different functions besides acquiring knowledge, our Creator has graced us with different relations to meet our varied needs, etc. Besides, He has bestowed us a tongue which helps us when to speak and what to speak and how best to speak or otherwise depends solely on us. How best to utilize our tongue depends on us only. There are so many natural bounties without which we cannot liv. For all these, we have to be thankful to our LORD.

INCULCATION OF TRAITS OF COMPASSION AND HUMILITY

What we give, returns back to us in equal measure or may be even more. A person with the traits of both compassion and humility meets others’ needs dispassionately when left hand not knowing what right hand does. Humility, despite sufficiency of everything (knowledge and other requirements of life), and keeping our head clear makes much difference.

MIND CONTROL HELPS WITH SINGLE MINDED DEVOTION

Knowledge and its usage help in ensuring purity of mind due to our single-minded devotion to the task at hand. When we meditate, our mind should not waver from one thought to another. A single point focus is a must. Unruly mind or misdirected thoughts takes us nowhere hence the first necessity is to control mind and senses and proceed to acquire the ultimate.

EGO CREATES IMPEDIMENT IN OUR LIFE

It should never be forgotten that our ego is our enemy number one. If we think are nursing a notion that we are perfect, we can do everything without others’ assistance or any other thinking which gives more credence to ‘I’ or ‘me’ then we are living in fool’s paradise. Everybody is dependent on somebody else for fructification of our needs.

NOTHING HAPPENS IN SECLUSION

It should never be forgotten that nothing happens in isolation. Every event that happens takes place in relationship with other event. Nothing happens in isolation or in seclusion. We should always remember that if there are bad guys there are good ones, if there is darkness there is light also, every night has its day. It could better be inferred that nothing happens in isolation and there is always opposites of everything and anything. We have to live with this reality.

SELF RESTRAINT ESSENTIAL TO A LIMIT

To the extent possible, restraint should not only be followed but should be manifestly be done practically. But with a caution, if others take advantage of our softness then we have to seek other options to safeguard our interests. In other words, our reaction should be based on the situation as it arises – but when all other options including restraints lose their relevance.

OBEYING THE ADVICES OF THE MEN OF WISDOM

Our scriptures have enough treasure of knowledge / information which if followed dispassionately can make huge difference in our daily lives. There are also some areas which are considered taboo and should not be followed. Injunctions, if we care to adopt in our daily lives, can avoid untoward situations and solve our daily problems.

THOSE WHO ASPIRE FOR POWER ARE INSECURE PEOPLE

One thing should never be forgotten that we have not brought anything while we were born on this earth and will not take anything while we leave this earth.

The demonetization move of the Govt of India move has thrown open Pandora’s box how much of cash and jewellery have been kept as black money by so many people. It has been proved that 90% of the people are honest and the pervasive monster of corruption is due to 10% of people who amassed huge cash and other valuables secretly hoodwinking the laws of the land. How much of pain the common man was put can be seen to be believed but they suffered agony proving that only handful of people want to amass huge sums because of their power hungry attitude. These people are facing the music now.

PURITY IN LIFE COULD BE ACQUIRED THROUGH TOTAL DEVOTION

A life which is based on purity of thoughts and action thereof leads to purity in our life. This is possible when we live righteously, respecting others spiritual and religious viewpoints, conduct ourselves within the confines of our limits, realise the importance of spiritual values, earn our honest living, earning wealth of knowledge with its proper useage and not wealth for daily comforts. Having acquired the traits of purity, we surely pave the way for connectivity with the Supreme Soul (Param Atma). Hence panacea for all ills in our life could be by total devotion to God.

MEDITATION CAN BRING ABOUT PERMANENT PEACE

It is experienced that when we disassociate ourselves from God and for this we have to make concerted efforts to delve deep within our own self and experience Him. The joy we get out of this experience is just out of this world. Comforts which we tend to get is short lived in comparison with this one. Meditation with utmost denotation is the only way to get eternal joy.

IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE

  • First of all, do everything to cleanse ourselves off the baser instincts dormant in ourselves through personal efforts and through dispassion and to the extent possible total belief on our karma philosophy.
  • Control over the mind and five senses. Keeping peace, total faith in the God, focused mind, intense longing for God makes much difference.
  • Performing our essential duties with sincerity.
    Maintaining tranquility at all occasions.
  • Having known self then further journey will start to establish our connectivity with god by thoroughly focusing on Him.
  • Understanding the subtle concepts of scriptural knowledge.
    • Our curiosity to know about our God and his creations.
  • GOD’S WRIT RUNS SUPREME

It should never be forgotten that we all are the playthings of our creator. It should never be forgotten that there is a hidden hand which is controlling everything; without his approval nothing transpires. Providence’s help is required at every step we venture to take. Hence denotation to Him but without any sort of expectations will mitigating factor. In other words it can rightfully be said, our action, without doubt, is subject to our Creator’s will. Without his will nothing moves.

HAND OF DESTINY IN DAY TO DAY AFFAIRS

We must have seen people cursing God when they face any difficult situation totally forgetting that everything happens or do not happen based entirely on our past karma. Virtuous deeds bring forth good results and evil deeds bring us punishment. It should always be remembered that whatever is destined will surely happen though we can assuage our feeling with self assurance so that our future course of action is positively oriented for positive results thereafter.

MAY GOD BE WITH US ALL IN THE YEAR 2017 – DIRECTING OUR ACTIONS FOR THE PEACE AND PROSPERITY IN THE WORLD AS A WHOLE

LORD JESUS CHRIST – A MESSENGER OF  LOVE & COMPASSION

Humans are the best of all the creations which our Creator has created because they are bestowed with the faculty of thinking along with power of discrimination. If we acutely introspect as to how everything created is being taken care of by an unseen power, we would reach to a conclusion that Omnipotent and Omniscient One is the one who controls everything around us and beyond. Although He remains an ‘unseen power’ yet nobody disputes His existence though some may agree grudgingly.

God deputes His chosen ones, as His Representatives, to spread the fragrance of His message. Such messengers are the embodiments of piety, purity and compassion. If we delve deep into the lives of such messengers of God, one thing undoubtedly comes out; such special messengers are apostle of peace in real sense of terms. Besides, in their lives they took upon themselves to cure various afflictions of humans –  physical and mental. Such God’s ambassadors of peace withstood hardships during their life time, suffered for others and remained disciplined from their childhood onwards. Such special ones continued spreading the message of LOVE and also to help the general public for self realization by communing with God notwithstanding the fact that it was not to the likings of people at the helm of affairs at that time.

These Sons of God did not care for their mundane pleasures but did everything to ameliorate the conditions of the hapless and destitute with their mystical prowess. Their message to the humanity was to be compassionate towards the needs of others besides urging the general masses to uphold their religious duties. One amongst the Messengers of God is the Jesus Christ.

In other words it could be construed that God incarnates as great souls for spreading Divine Message on His behalf. It is a prime requirement of disillusioned minds who are immersed in the world of their own making and never realize that their mission in this world is to spread the message of humanity thereby understand the true purpose of our life on this planet.

The real purpose is to spread the fragrance of love to the fellow beings including all the creations created by our Lord with a consciousness that even intractable challenges of ours could be overcome if we have firm belief in His existence and associate Him in our day to day happenings. Sure enough, we would be surprised about the results of such actions.

Jesus Christ was the one who had won victory against material consciousness. He exists in the hearts and minds of multitudes. He said, ‘I do nothing of myself, but as my Father hath taught me.’ Christians including numberless others who have indomitable belief in His preaching shun delusions and follow His ideals. His presence is felt through his teachings. Those who have self realization know that in every speck of cosmos Christ Consciousness exists but only those who have vision can experience this. Christ Consciousness is a part of Cosmic Consciousness should never be lost sight of by us humans.

Jesus was born in 7 – 2 BC and was crucified in 30-33 AD in Jerusalem. He was born in Nazareth, Galilee to Parents Marry & Joseph. That is why he is also referred to as Jesus of Nazareth. St. Mathew has spoken about the birth: ‘….Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, being interpreted as, God with us.”

His teachings are universal in nature; if we care to follow. If follow these in our day to day lives, we can make our life sublime.

Jesus Christ preached the importance of having compassion for our fellow beings. He taught that kindhearted feeling should always be there even for all including our enemies:-

Mark 6:34 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and  he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things.

Colossians 3:12-13  Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved,  compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and,  if one has a complaint against another,  forgiving each other;  as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

  • He is held to be the Son of God, a Messiah or Messenger of God, a charismatic healer:

Matthew 14:14 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed the sick.

  • Christ preached forgiveness and mercy. He even forgave those who harmed him immensely. No ill-feelings for anyone absolutely that is the message given:

Matthew 6:14-15  For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?  As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.

Daniel 9:9  To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him

  • Christ spread the message to judge others correctly it is fine if we judge others negatively then we will also be judged by our Creator on the Judgement Day then we have to face the music for every creature’s action is recorded in the consciousness of God.

Matthew 7:1-2  Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and  with the measure you use it will be measured to you.

Jesus Christ being a social reformer He had the unique quality of helping those who are suffering  – it may be any kind of suffering.

Corinthians 1:3-4  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Even for healthy and prosperous family life He had a message (for young women who have to take responsibility to run a family’s affairs):

Titus 2:4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and children,

LORD JESUS CHRIST – A MESSENGER OF  LOVE & COMPASSION

Born to virgin Mary

The loveliest Son of Holiest Spirits of our Lord,

At Bethlehem, the city of David,

A saviour of humanity,

And to spread the fragrance and purity

Of His message of peace to all humanity

Men of wisdom came from places afar,

Mesmerized by this Shining Star,

To witness a holiest event,

Which only happens only rarest of rare time

Angels sing songs so melodious,

Shepherds pay their huge reverence

Filled with immense exuberance.

Even old in years though,

Simeon & Anna saw their ambition fructified,

As they too had a glimpse of the Glorious One,

Brought up in rural town of Nazareth,

His adaptive & adoring father Joseph,

Taught Him the art of using,

Tools of a carpenter,

A labour so arduous by any standard,

Resulting in so much sweating,

By the rays of sun so searing.

The revered God’s Son,

Worked tirelessly in the hot Sun!

Thence as he cometh,

From the waters of Jordan,

A voice so refreshing,

Cometh from Heaven,

‘This is my beloved Son

In whom I am very pleased’.

Thereafter Jesus went to the backwoods,

Surprise of surprises of all, which could not be fathomed!

To allow Satan to temp Him

To break the back of Satan.

He fasted for days forty,

And vanquished the Satan thence forth,

With eternal will of God in the heaven,

Then brimming with the Holy Sprit,

He lived with the commons,

For three long years.

John recorded Jesus as the Son of God,

Who raised the dead to live again,

Made the blinds to get their eyesight back again,

Lames to walk again,

Demons dare not appear again,

Came to the succour of hapless, aplenty,

During storms, with so much  ferocity.

With a few loaves and fish,

Made food sufficient for five thousands!

Believe – no alternative, we have to!

Since He is sent by our Creator,

As a Saviour,

As His Incarnate,

The All Knowing,

The All Powerful Being.

Then on a Thursday Night,

Followers he met,

In the city of Jerusalem,

On an occasion so solemn,

He announced, unexpectedly,

It is ordained that He may die,

For those He loved so Him so dearly,

And told them to remember,

His association with them,

And also promised, as destined

To come back, again

For their own sake!

He spent time in the garden of Gethsemane,

Prayed to the Divine Providence.

No case was found against Jesus,

By those who tried Him,

Because He was flawless whence he interacted with gentry

Yet was crucified on Friday even then!

He departed this life,

For He loved us all,

After when He was dead,

His power was proclaimed,

By happening most unexplained,

On the morn of Sunday,

He rose from the dead,

Appeared to Mary,

And apostles and a huge gathering,

And gave the message of love

Goes to prove

He remains invincible in both the states.

O Lord, bestow us Thy Invaluable CHRISTMAS DAY GIFT,

The precious of all Thy Gifts,

That Thee could only grant,

The coveted gift of peaceful coexistence,

In the whole world by Thy Grace

So that this world could be a better place to live,

A place where there is a prevalence of Eternal Love.

ON ETERNAL JOY

ETERNAL JOY

True joy in life is attained
not by having numerous material comforts
which though bestows us momentary pleasure
but, alas!   Dissolves like thin layer of snow on a sunny day
sooner than we actually anticipate in any way
leaving us bereft of any joyous moments to celebrate
taking us to the spot
from where we’d initially started
with sorrow writ large on our faces.

True happiness is acquired
when we earn our bread
using our intellect with our sweet will
thus making our life worth living
engendering a feeling of  satiety
without fear or favour eventually
resulting in profuse joy to the individual
producing positive emotional upsurge
making our heart elated with pleasure

Thus purging the feeling of discomFrot

And a true joy  is so attained.

When we merge completely with god

Pure knowledge and pure perception dawn

Which helps us remove the ill habit of obsession

For the material possessions

Or feeling of over-possessiveness in relationship

Thus help create in real sense feeling of self-realization

which is a sure sign of true joy in our life – for sure.

ON TRUE JOY

We humans tend to search for joy in the external objects for satisfying our needs; thus aspire to find fulfillment thereof. For this, we make attempts to collect funds and purchase different things in order to gratify our perceived needs thereby get comfort from the items collected without realizing that joy and comforts which a person garners out of objects of comforts is of temporary nature and hardly gives fillip to our happy life. Though it could be construed as a fashionable lifestyle yet it hardly gives us joy which is enduring. In our daily life, we must have observed, a thing with external attraction may not be an object of ultimate joy; it could give us a momentary pleasure. It lasts till the indulgence lasts.

Holy Quran states joy as: ‘State of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy’ and this joy springs from inner recesses of our heart.

SENSE OF INSECURITY RESULTS IN SORROW

State of sorrow is caused when we are confronted with sense of insecurity. Its cause may be sudden due to our attachment or possessiveness. Attachment is the value perception we give to our relationship.  Value perception are mainly the creation of our mind and five senses. This value perception may vary. The more value to a thing or relationship, we feel pleasure of pain when we do not get what we want. Then conflict of interest too gives momentary joy or sorrow. Suppose we are in a position from where we can influence something in our favour, we get immense satisfaction but if we are unable to get what we actually want, we tend to be anguished hence lose ourselves in the bargain. To have a balance both in sorrow and pain, we have to in total control of our mind and five senses thereof.  Hence disproportionate possessiveness or too much attachment could come in our way in getting total or eternal joy.

DESIRES AND ABSENCE OF JOYS

The moot point here is, whenever a man does not get what he wants to satiate his desires, he gets disappointed which slowly but surely results in different physiological and psychological ailments. The scenario gets accentuated when we start asking God in our daily prayer for these items of comforts! A prayer in which we ask our Creator for material comforts for our joy is not prayer at all.

IN LIFE WE GET LIFE ADMIXTURE OF JOYS AND SORROWS

In our life, we find ourselves confronted with myriad of unresolved problems; although the problems faced by each individual may not be same. Our happiness in life depends on the attitude towards our life vis-à-vis the problems we experience. ‘Nanak Dukhia Sab Sansar’ has been very aptly mentioned in this respect. In our quest for joy, we may explore different avenues but total joy is really a mirage, despite our best efforts. It is also a time tested fact that total absence of sorrow and pain is not possible in life. Detachment from result of our karma can only bring about positivity in our life. Bhagwad Gita exhorts that Karma is our prime Dharma, we should not be attached with the result of our Karma. Doubtlessly,  sincere actions leads to good results.

ENJOYMENT IN SMALL-SMALL THINGS IN LIFE

Even for temporary joy, different people have different yardsticks. One person may get joy out of small-small things in life but others may not rejoice in that ‘temporary joy’ even due to their insatiable attitude!  It is because their satisfaction level is too high to be fulfilled – may be due to ignorance or I shall call it due to their egocentric tendencies.  Such people remain dissatisfied throughout their life with everything essential for humans notwithstanding

In the poem Miller of Dee, the poet makes a comparison between a Miller of river Dee and a crown king. The Miller is described to be happy like a lark but the king with power is not so happy. He is having multiple unsolved problems. Meaning, happiness or sadness depends on our attitude.

TRUE JOY IS NOT ATTAINED BY HAVING MATERIAL POSSESSIONS

This also goes to prove that joy does not depend on the worldly or material possessions. It largely depends on our state of mind.  An object of joy for a particular person may not provide joy for other one. One man’s meal may be poison for other. There is no golden goose in real life which could give a total or eternal joy. .

SELF REALIZATION AND JOY

True  joy could be attained when we make sincere efforts in merging ourselves with our Creator. For this to be reality self realization or self awareness is a must. Here right knowledge and intelligence to use that knowhow is a must.

And that happiness which is blind to self-realization, which is delusion from beginning to end and which arises from sleep, laziness and illusion is said to be of the nature of ignorance.

Happy are the people whose God is the Lord” The Bible guides us to happiness through God’s Word.

In Our Life, We Come Across With The Following Types Of People:-

  • People who try to make others joyous even disregarding their own joys in life. Their motto in life is to get satisfaction by satisfying the needs of others. What a supreme joy one gets by this attitude!

  • People with insatiable thirst for materials possessions.

  • People who get satisfaction and joy by making others unhappy with an evil intend.

  • Those who introspect and find their true self.

  • Those who find joy in acquiring new knowledge which they utilize for their well-being and spread the fragrance of knowledge and remove ignorance of society to which they belong.

ON RIGHTEOUS CONDUCT

ON RIGHTEOUS CONDUCT

One who works within the boundaries of some standard morality, remains upright in words and deeds, adopts even handedness while dealing with others besides being virtuous beyond any stretch of imagination is known as righteous person. Such person’s philosophy in life is based on Karma Yoga and the person concerned is a true Yogi in real sense of terms. His thoughts and deeds are fundamentally verifiable based on truth in time and space which speak for themselves. The person concerned need not offer expositions/explanations for the same. Besides, as he goes about in life performing various functions in life, he does not forget his limits. This far and no further is his policy in life. For such person, crossing limit means crossing the maximum limits of decency or resorting to ill-mannered demeanor.

EXAMPLE OF RIGHTEOUS CONDUCT

Fact is that a righteous person does everything in association with God’s will hence is always virtuous – beyond suspicion. King Harishchandra of Suryavanshi dynasty was known for his righteousness, so much so that in order to uphold this virtue, he even kept his family into bondage when circumstances forced him to do so thus upheld the trait of virtuousness. When we talk about wisdom, honesty, farsightedness and righteousness we talk about this King Harishchandra.

FEELINGS OF A RIGHTEOUS PERSON

Also, a person who is upright in his karma feels righteous indignation whenever he is not able to prevent an unethical karmic deed being perpetrated on others in his presence. This indignation, sometimes leads to untoward incident or worse still, it could result in create differences in the relationship or still worse, may result in break in relationship or interactions.

WICKEDNESS BEYOND DESCRIPTION

Before going into the positivity contained in the word righteousness, it would be essential to first understand its antonym (wickedness) . To have a clean slate, one has to consciously aspire for it, have a clean image, have to have self esteem besides upholding others’. Here perfunctory ideals will not count, ideals have to be practiced in real life. Even a single black dot on the clean white slate of our character gets ruined. Be that as it may, others may or may not be able to decipher that but the individual concerned knows full well the existence of such black spot and when we lose our own self esteem, we lose much.

The single most reason which prompted me to write on RIGHTEOUSNESS was when I came to know about perpetration of unethical and immoralistic act with his own very close female relative! I felt completely shaken when that person sobbingly related the unprincipled and unprintable act done by her own partner. I prayed to God for bestowing her peace, after I recovered from the initial shock. O my Lord, do rid this world off people of this evil nature. Even wickedness of Mahabharta infamy Sukni, will squirm after listening such incidence. This was my state, anybody can guess the condition of the hapless who withstood the gruesome incident. Some may say animal like inhuman act, but I say, even the animals will not stoop so low. Also, there is a lesson for those who make others’ life virtual hell; such people should always have realization that they will have to face the music on the JUDGEMENT DAY after their demise!

The Government of India’s policy of demonitisation has brought home many incidents giving us the insight of human psychology. To be righteous is not confined to a single individual. It could be related to group of people. I was aghast with astonishment after viewing a news item: A person who had a massive heart attack while waiting for his turn in the queue for cashing a cheque. He had fallen on the ground and remained there, but alas, nobody from the queue came to his succor and he was declared dead when he was finally taken to hospital by his own relatives! Many of us will call this act of not helping the victim as unethical but I shall call this act as inhuman or depraved act or whatever adjective one may like to give for such a person.

RIGHTEOUS CONDUCT AND POLITICAL CLASS

It has been observed that those are ruling us are power seekers, manipulative, selfcentred although with some exception. This has been going on since long. Some go all out in pursuit of power is really unrighteous.

RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE ATTRIBUTE OF SPIRITUALLY INCLINED PERSON

Contrarily, people who are good or just and gracious in their behavior despite hurdles are the ones very dear not only to their own society but also to the Creator – Who takes pride for such creations. Such people spread their fragrance far and wide being above board in sincerity, obey the laws of land and respect the laws of Mother Nature.

In Bhagwad Gita it has been mentioned: One should not think that the Supreme Lord is biased against the wicked for it is not so, He being equal to all, chastises them in the same way a father chastises his son while raising him as a necessary action to insure his proper development.

It has also been mentioned in Bhagwad Gita that: Supreme Lord incarnates from time to time on particular occasions, when the evil exceeds its limit, for the annihilation of the sinful and evil and for the protection of the righteous and virtuous.

Righteousness is one of the chief attributes of God as portrayed in the Bible. Its chief meaning concerns ethical conduct.

When we resort to ethical conduct, by meeting the needs of others through donation from which we do not have hope of reciprocation, give someone due or undue complement to make his day pleasant.

To have righteous conduct, it is essential to go through different phases of life based on the following:-

  • To remain fully conscious of our weaknesses and try to improve with each passing day.
  • Having total and unflinching faith on God’s existence.
  • Be compassionate towards others’ at all times.
  • Promises are to made to be kept.
  • To remain aware how we act or react in accordance to the need of the hour while endeavoring to remain positive.
  • Should not be provoked by any untoward incident.
  • Our past experiences should become our beacon of light.
  • Remain in equanimity in weal and woe.

To be just and gracious are the traits which pull us up from any situations in which we are placed therefore beneficial not only morally, ethically and spiritually but also gives personal satisfaction to the person concerned to follow inspirational life which everyone of us would like to follow.

‘LIVE AND LET LIVE’ – A SAGACIOUS WAY OF LIVING

‘LIVE AND LET LIVE’ – A SAGACIOUS WAY OF LIVING

The phrase ‘Live and let live’ highlights  the sagacious viewpoint that living beings have the right to live according to their choice i.e. there should not be artificial boundaries in their sphere of activity. They should have freedom of expression and action within the confines of norms set by the society.  Nobody has the right to force others to accept others’ terms for a healthy and purpose living. Life should not revolve  on the percept: ‘All men are born free, but everywhere they are in chains’ since it is contrary to natural justice and fair-play. If freedom to grow gets jeopardized then the human values will also lose its sheen.

The principle of ‘LIVE AND LET LIVE’ gets affected due to the following:-

RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE

Humans have the trait of discrimination – can differentiate between right and wrong. We do we use this trait logically in actual practice. It has been noticed with utmost concern that we do not identify ourselves as the single entity / creation of our creator. We distinguish between humans on the basis of religion without understanding the truth underlying / contained in that particular religion. Truly speaking each religion is a path to connect with our Creator. Different paths, in the form of different religions are there, but the source or destination is only Eternal One. Knowing this truth should make us realise that every religion teaches us the same truth, its language to convey the same may be different. But alas, we do not see in actual practice. We intentionally create different impediments in others’ paths, considering their own one (religion) the superior one. This creates bad blood between people of different religions thus impinging upon the human rights of others hence coming in the way of acting on the principle of: LIVE AND LET LIVE.

There is also tragedy, there are some insipient layers in individual religion even, professing different percepts, each predominantly differing from other creating still more differences resulting in rivalry within individual religion even. I need not quote these layers, each of us knows about these and division these create within the societies.  No other religion has the right to subvert other religions but follow his/her own and live in harmony. The religions should help groom good human beings and create conducive atmosphere for communal accord on the principles of : LIVE AND LET LIVE .

SUPERFLUOUS PREJUDICES

Most of the differences are generated on the basis of prejudices based on caste, colour, creed and regionalism. We should rise above narrow parochialism and create atmosphere of cooperation on the percepts of unity in diversity and adopt / cultivate social and traditional values for propagating:  LIVE AND LET LIVE.

PROTECTION OF GIRL CHILD

The gender based violence which prevails is a sad pointer to the age old discrimination that is prevalent in many society. Sometimes it starts from identification of gender of the unborn and the destruction which is not only a crime under the law of the land but a inhuman act. Then there is human trafficking. Every child (male or female) has the right to live. The perpetrators should be prosecuted and punishment awarded for its avoidance. LIVE AND LET LIVE is the crying need in this respect too.

RIGHTS OF TRANSGENDERS, GAYS AND  NEUTRAL GENDERS COMPROMISED

Then we differentiate other humans on the basis of their state of mind or body afflictions. It is important that the perceptible difference between different human beings be identified first, understood properly and not discriminated on the bases of some gender differences. Their rights should be protected and provided freedom to live their normal lives without let of hindrance.

Gays: These are the persons who are attracted to members of the same sex –traits of being homosexuals.

Transgender: If the gender differs from the one a person was born. They could identify as male or female. Or it could be that neither male or female suits them. They could change from male to female and vice versa on choice. It could be through surgery or with some other method.

Gender Neutrals. Then there are the people who are genderless or absence of gender – neither male nor female i.e. neutral.

FREEDOM FOR ANIMALS AND BIRDS

We domesticate animals and keep them as dogs for our protection, cows and buffalos for milk and goats, camels, horses, mules  as a means of transportation of goods, goats and sheep for  fur and meat etc. Domesticated animals are looked after since these are beneficial to the person who domesticates them. But do we show the same consideration for the stray dogs etc. In many cases, certainly now!  These also need equal consideration. It does not mean the animals should be our slaves. They should have equal rights since these are also the creation of our creator. It should also not be forgotten that animals and birds too feel pain while we inflict pain on them. They feel pain, pleasure, fear etc like we humans do. Only difference between us and animals is that the human are having the power of discrimination whereas animals and birds do not have that.

Paradoxically, we must have observed how power hungry and self-centered people act according to their whim and fancies, showing no mercy on their victim for satisfying their ill-designs. They will have no reasons or rational about their nefarious acts of omission and commission. They will commit heinous crimes without caring two hoots about their actions.

The story of a WOLF AND A LAMB suits the negative attitude of some of inhuman elements towards others. The wolf saw a lamb drinking water lower down the stream. He wanted to eat the lamb so he asked the lamb as to why she was making the water muddy. The lamb respectfully replies that water was flowing from him to her and there was no reason how she could make the water muddy. Then he invented another excuse to entrap the lamb in his web and asked her threateningly; as to why did she abuse him last year. To which the lamb replied that he was only six months old; how he could abuse him when he was not even born. The wolf did not care about the answer and pounced upon the lamb and ate it up. The lesson from this story is that an oppressor need not have any excuse for terrorizing his victim. He will have his way. Accept it or not, that is not the sphere of that tyrant’s thinking.  Here the ideals of LIVE AND LET LIVE GETS DEFEATED.

A leaf from the noble principle of LIVE AND LET LIVE could be taken from a legend of RAJA JAMBOOLOCHAN the founder of Jammu, called city of temples, in 14th century BC. It is said that during one of his hunting trips, he reached to a river named Tawi, which originates from the lap of Kali Kundi Glacier. To his utter surprise, he saw a goat and a lion drinking water together. He was obviously astonished to see this unnatural harmony.  An idea crept in his mind, a place where a lion and a goat could take water together, could be a place of peace and harmony.  So he built a palace at that place and subsequently a city named Jambu Nagar which now is called Jammu. Thus in this respect the principle of ‘LIVE AND LET LIVE’ becomes a reality. Being a resident of Jammu City I am really proud of City of Temples and its people who live in peace and harmony besides  with a feeling of unity in diversity because people of all religions (Hindu, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs etc) reside there.
