JEALOUSY – A NEGATIVE TRAIT
In essence, there are some families who treat their male child and the female child. The male child is given every facilities and opportunity which are not given to the girl child. The trigger for writing about jealousy was when there was an unusual tiff between brother and sister, and unusual, simply because this argument on petty matter turned into a slanging match between the two and that too when the warmth of brother and sister relationship is consolidated – on Raksha Bandhan. But under my very sight, a match was a mud-slinging match was going on. It seemed that the sister was having a field day by remembering anything that she could remember was hurled at her brother. Here the brother was at the receiving end from his sister. She simmering inside her and exploded when she could not tolerate any longer. Seemingly, the sister was under the spell of anger, fear, envy, and lack of everything. Meaning, she was under the influence of jealousy.
Jealousy is a human emotion generated by a lack of understanding in the relationship – spouse feeling jealousy for his/her spouse due to misgiving or suspicion. This suspicion may be due to doubt on infidelity or disloyalty. A fellow employee in an organization may feel jealousy for his/her colleague for being proficient.
COMPARISON WHILE DOING NOTHING TANGIBLE TO BE SUCCESSFUL
In reality, the jealousy is generated when we compare ourselves with others, who have done well in their lives. Envy results when we do not avail of the opportunities which come our way with the application. Virtually we are pre-occupied with thoughts of others who have reached to their pinnacle of success rather than trying our bit to succeed. It should never be forgotten that we succeed or fail based on our own initiative and drive or lack of it. Thinking about others’ successes but not making sincere efforts is neither here nor there.
LACK OF VALUE SYSTEM
A person having an emotional feeling of enviousness is due to lack of value system with the idea that anything which is earned with personal sincere efforts. When we do not have a hierarchy of values; which are based on ethical and moral standpoints for earning our place in the society then we may get something but that ‘something’ would be for a short duration.
RELATIVE LACK OF WEALTH OR STATUS AND A FEELING OF INSECURITY
Jealousy is an emotion which is generated by a feeling of insecurity due to lack of material possessions or status which others may have.
