INNER FREEDOM – MEANING AND ITS FUNCTION
After our thoughts and actions
Have cleansed off the inner contraditions
Which our scheming brain have created
By being judgemental at every step we venture taking
With skepticism and negative emotions abounding
Owing to which our inner self overflows with selfishness
And with anger, lust with trust deficit in abundance
And in the process we become our own enemy number one
Because we lose inner freedom to think or to act on that thought.
Inner freedom is essential to fill our heart with compassion
For our brethren while in need and badly require our helping hand.
It is the freedom of our heart
To understanding the feelings of others
And also our own feelings.
While we’re having inner freedom
Then our-self is filled with softer feelings
We imagine ourselves fling like a free bird
In the vast clear blue sky around
And then being amidst the greenery
And the valley of flowers
With murmuring sound of a rivulet flowing mystically
And soft sound of breeze blowing gently
With our heart filled with all encompassing love
A feeling of touching all the horizons
When our mind and soul are in sync.
Thence we are self-realized
With over-flowing bounties of God.
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF INNER FREEDOM
Importantly, while we talk about freedom, it is autonomy or liberty in
thoughts and actions on the basis of our thoughts without any coercion
or force on us. It is freedom, independent of any external pressure whatsoever. It could also be termed as a decision taken as per our own volition/free will. But it should never be forgotten that our freedom of action does not mean freedom to sepak or act against anybody we intend to.
There are some determining factors which are responsible for adopting this course.
SYMPTOMS OF INNER FREEDOM
While we are having inner freedom, our soft-feelings come into play our inner self is without any negative thoughts such as anger, greed, envy/jealousy, egocentric tendencies, resentment, indifference for others, etc. then the emotions of heart takes upper pedestal in our life. Empathy
means to share our not only material things but our knowledge we have attained over a period of time. While giving others our possessions, I have found that we are granted more bounties by our Bhagwanji by sharing and caring others. By doing so, we can make our life very
simple and purposeful. It means, we can make ourselves happy with less which God has
When we are satisfied with what we have or do not have then we can remain more with our own selves than comparing ourselves with other, with their material possessions, with their power and status because our heart is asking for nothing other than we already possess.
It is the freedom of our heart to understand the feelings of others vis-à-vis ourselves. Inner freedom is the feeling of compassion, feeling of love for others and also render helping hand to the concerned person(s) without any expectations in return. It is the soft feeling for others. This could be attained by detached attachment. We can transact our daily routines but without much reliance on the fruits of our action that is in an atmosphere of freedom. This should be in an atmosphere of inner calmness, peaceful, warmth and in an atmosphere of cooperative echo system. Every one of us has freedom of thought, imagine, visualize, and contemplation etc. where our mind could take us. It is our inner freedom to imagine ourselves in the midst of greener with brook flowing just majestically with sweet air flowing a sinuous atmosphere indeed. Or flying like a free bird in the blue sky or being alone in the blue water of the sea. These reveries are our own creation and these are in consonance of our free will or could be termed as inner freedom. In this sort of a setting, we are cool, with poise with all the positive traits coming into play. Such feelings are in the form of empathy, compassion, inner composure bereft of any envy/jealousy, anger, rancor, deceit/treachery and all the other negative traits put together.
ACCEPTANCE OF TRUTH AND LIVING TRUTHFULLY GIVE FREEDOM
Sometimes we are constrained to accept the reality and bite the bullet, we wish it or not. We have to live truthfully if we want to have internal freedom to think and act.
INNER FREEDOM WITHOUT CLEANSING OUR INNER SELF IS NOT POSSIBLE
For inner freedom to be a reality, it is essential that we remove all the dirt and darkness from our mind through our self efforts and by practicing discrimination what ought to be done and what to be avoided. It should always be remembered that we have to have self-realization as our goal for meaningful inner freedom.
TO BE SELF AWARE
All of us occasionally face dilemma of facing challenges in our life due to which our inner self gets disturbed. If we keep in mind the Lord Krishana sagacious advice to Arjuna which enunciated: We all need to free ourselves of all dilemmas and take challenges in our stride and act…..while being aware of our own self.
WHEN INNER DISTURBANCE ENDS WE ATTAIN INNER FREEDOM
We have inner tussle going on because of imbalance because of inner contradictions caused by our brain conditioning and thus act accordingly. If we remove this inner contradictions due to brain conditioning and recondition ourselves through self awareness. Initially, it is easier said than done but constant practice can make huge difference.
FREEDOM TO ACT WITHIN CONFINES OF SOME NORMS
It is not that we can go to any limit in pulling others down or unreasonably criticizing others for selfish ends. We have to take into cognizance the border-line within which we can do so. There
are some norms set by the society within which we can do so otherwise this element of free-will will tantamount to transgressing somebody else’s territory.
FREEDOM TO EARN OUR LIVING BUT NO FREEDOM TO SUBJUGATE OTHERS’ FREEDOM
It is a fact that we are free to take any profession according to our capability and situation we are in but it hardly means that we forcibly snatch or use violence to coerce others to part with their hard earned possessions. If we resort to such acts it amounts to unethical acts.
SIMPLICITY IN OUR HEART BRINGS ABOUT FREEDOM OF THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS IN OUR LIFE
It has been observed that in each of us, there is a desire for freedom. There are desires of material possession, to hanker after power and pelf, or whatever we want to excel ourselves in the eyes of people around us. But when our desires are more refine, filled with civility, more sublime with overflowing humility, more elevating thoughts, more joy of giving, giving calmness to our mind and existence then we limit our desires which have impermanent value.
A SIMPLE LIFE HELPS
No extra demands, no comparison with others,
if I succeeded, it was due to my God and if I failed that too was due
to Him only with this impression I live even now at 68+. Remaining
busy from early morning till 11:30 PM, is not due to my determination
at this age but due to inner peace and His blessings. No stresses or
strains. Whatever is attained till now, not due to my accomplishments
but His grace. I had challenges in my life, but I do not know when
these were solved or may be some of these still persist but belief him
Him just makes it possible to tide over anything and everything.
I have also experienced some roadblocks on my path but simple way of
handling with poise and composure made it possible to tide over the
situation without taking those roadblocks to block the functioning of
heart and the system.
INNER FREEDOM IN MY LIFE
If I just go back my life from childhood onwards, from an average
family background in a village where we had do be satisfied with what
we had – simple living in fact. My education was also in a Government
run school/college, got Government employment, got married, had
children, brought them up in simple atmosphere, retired from service
with some commendations here and there while in service. Children
married, living their own lives as per their Karma. Pin-pricks here
and there were there but inner peace and belief on God just
WE’VE TO HAVE INNER STRENGTH (ANDAR KI SHAKTI)
I try to live according to situation and within the limits of my earnings according to the percept: cut your coat according to your cloth. In my life, with God’s grace, I’ve not taken any loan from any bank or any other source because I’ve tried to live with the earnings which I’ve. Exceeding the limit means, being steeping in the debits or being indebted to someone. This is possible by living a simple life. I’ve not purchased any vehicle till now; not that I cannot. I occasionally endeavour to walk so as to keep myself in the best of my health and well-being. Yesterday, when somebody tauntingly mentioned in front of others the reason for not purchasing a vehicle for commuting from home to office! To which I replied just calmly. I did not purchase the vehicle since I did not have money.
SIMPLICITY IN OUR HOME & FREEDOM
There are people who clutter their materials in their homes with materials in order to showcase their possessions. These things are dumped in such a manner which emit negativity not only for the members of the family but also for guests visiting the family. Our endeavor should be to present a picture of simplicity in everything we have kept in our homes which should reflect positive feel and not a feeling of distraction and negative emotions – showcasing anything should be avoided. Simplicity should be a buzz word. Storing too many precious things to to show-off richness will not do us any good but make our life more complex since we also require time and energy to maintain those material possessions in our household. Simplicity and inner freedom go hand in hand.
