It pays huge dividends
Whilst we become religious
A life lived spiritually
With pious actions
Based on pious thoughts
With no linkages
Of legal bindings
But having touch with ethics
And moral standpoints
As religious codes emerge
From our consciousness
And anything and everything
Coming out of the envelop of our awareness
Through which we come to know
About our potentials
With weak areas too
Then removing the weakness
With our self-effort so genuinely
Thus realizing the reality
Of our earthy existence
Living religiously
Is most beneficial for us all
Since we use our will power
To seek God
For His connectivity
So as to be detached entirely
Bereft of any worries
Since, then our Omniscient One
Would take care of these.
Those who live irreligious
Live a robotic or mechanical existence
With all the bumps and roadblocks
In the journey of life
Which our life brings about
Such people see
But do not see reason
In anything which happens
They hear
But do not hear good things
Which they hear around
They feel
When it befall on them
But are oblivious of the feelings of others
They have sound touch
But has no touch of morality
They smell
But smell rat on all occasions
Meaning all the thoughts and actions are done
In complete unawareness
Where left hand
Does not know
What the right hand does!
With no control over senses
Where mind dictates terms at every step
Where problems would be plentiful
These dawn on such individuals
Without any warning even.
Thus an existence
Without religiosity
Without morality
Without ethics truly
Would be a life lived purposelessly.

  1. Good morning and thank you for this excellent article, my dear spiritual friend across the oceans. This simple yet substantial poem gives the basic principles why religiosity (of almost any kind) gives purpose to our earthly existence. As Jesus Christ had said in his preaching, if we do not have faith we will look without seeing, we will listen without hearing. Moreover we need a moral compass to help us navigate these meandering pathways of life, especially in our noisy, troubling and dangerous “modern” societies.
We wish you and your family a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2020. A big hug. Arrivederci.

    1. Good morning Dr. Sahib,.

While thanking you for your invaluable comments on my poem LIVING RELIGIOUSLY, fact remains, we live mechanically and in our quest to excel in worldly possessions, we leave everything which fulfills the purpose of our living on this earth.

Wish you all HAPPY, PEACEFUL AND PROSPEROUS 2020.

with big hug and warm regards
