THE LOVE AND LIGHT IS THE TRUTH WITHOUT WHCH NOTHING TANGIBLE WORKS

TRUTH (SATYA) IS PRECISION IN ALL FORMS OR FORMULATIONS

MYSTISM (Rahasyavadi/Adhyamik) DEEP BUT HIDDEN MEANING

TRUTH (SATYA) & ATAINMENT OF TRUTH

The Truth could be attained through sincere thoughts, actions while abiding by righteous character, righteous Karmic deeds based on sincere thoughts. In other words, what we get through myriad of experiences so as to reach to a beyond-question and imperative conclusion ia truth. This could be in scientific experiments, mathematical calculations, geographical or historical truth could be proved any time and space. It is fundamentally based on demonstrable truth.       It is based on  dignity/modesty (Maryada) and best practices which are held dear by  civilized persons. Such individuals can even make supreme sacrifice for upholding truth. A truthful individual is spiritually oriented in actions and karmic deeds.

While truth literally means what is real, exact, an absolute fact, an aspect whose correctness cannot be questioned, with unquestionable precision, etc. when it is a statement of fact the accuracy of which could be tested at any time or space.

According to Bible it has justifiably been said: Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji has very clearly enunciated : True is the Master, True is His name and True ones have Ones have recited His name with the utmost adoration.

The  wisdom suffusing and truthful words of Prophet Mohammad are the guides to understand truth – No man can attain a firm faith unless he developed strength of character and that cannot be achieved unless one acquires the habit of speaking the truth.

It has rightly been enunciated God is Truth and Truth is God. The Satya of God remains above everything else. Sat-Chit-Ananda, One who combines in Himself Truth, Knowledge and Bliss. God is SAT-CHIT & ANANDA. In other words, the God graces us with love which ultimately bestows us ecstasy or bliss.

Sat means truth, absolute which is unchanging and enduring or unending or permanent.

Chit is the consciousness, awareness, realization, understanding

Ananda is absolute bliss or ecstasy – a condition or situation of happiness, a joyous existence.

Taken together SAT-CHIT-ANANDA it is a absolute truth with fully awareness and gives us eternal happiness or ecstasy or heavenly feeling.

Truth(Sat)-Consciousness/awareness/self-realisation-ecstasy) (Jaagarookata). It is also termed as the triple awareness – a most advanced awareness which only a few of the Yogi can attain. It is an absolutely blissful state which is attained through complete connectivity with Absolute Truth. In other words, it is ultimate reality with eternal or supremely blissful experience of pure awareness.

It is a fact that God is Truth and eternal truth is the one which can be realized by a Yogi by following a self-realized existence bereft of any attachment to the fruits of any action.

A TRUTHFUL PERSON IS FEARLESS

A truthful person fears not from anything and anybody under the sun. He takes pride in performing his assigned job with sincerity and sense of purpose. He hardly adopts any shortcuts in carrying out his duties. It should also be borne in mind that relative truth or untruth depends on the time, space and outward appearance. It is because the duty performed may be good at a particular occasion but not at other occasion. For example, as per Hindu Astrology, there are times which are considered to be auspicious and the others inauspicious. For example, dawn is considered auspicious whereas dust could be good or bad too. This is termed as relative truth – in relation to time, space and form. Then there are things which are good for a particular person but not appropriate for others. There are people who like loud music but there are others who shut their ears on hearing the loud music. In this time too is a relative truth. Women is personification of truth reflecting Shakti or power of huge proportion.

A PERSON WHO IS TRUTHFUL REMAINS SPIRITUALLY ORIENTED

When a person is well-known for speaking the truth (Satya), for such a person, every occasion good or not so good is equal and has immense significance. For such a person, there is no disharmony at any situation or condition. Through spiritual practice of highest order and sincere Karmic deeds one can establish himself on the highest pedestal where there is no discord in any environ. In this sort of situation, one can understand anything and everything. This stage could also be attained through self-introspection, self-visualization, self-awareness or self-consciousness. Having this attained this juncture; we live a detached mental state.

WITHOUT ACTION OUR THOUGHTS REMAIN PURPOSELESS

Where there is action, there is motion. Time is the mental dimension of dynamism in action. Where there is no action, there is neither mind nor time. Life without action we become static which brings in its wake more ignorance and pain too. If you are unconscious, then,  you will not be aware of the lapse of the time lost. Action and mind are relative truths and consequently, time is also a relative truth. It is incorrect to say that time is eternity without end and without break or limit. Time cannot exist without space and creations involved in these considerations.

THE LIGHT OF MYSTISM IS HIDDEN UNDER THE CURTAIN OF DARKNESS BUT IY COULD BE REMOVED BY SPREAD OF KNOWLEDGTE

ETERNAL BLISS COULD BE ATTAINED BY FOLLOWING TENETS OF TRUTH

Human beings derive or try to derive pleasure from objects, big or small, but they cannot get eternal bliss from these objects which is in fact a relative truth. Therefore, sages devote themselves to the entity free from bondage of time. One has to practice focused meditation (Sadhana) to establish oneself in the entity that is free from any bondage of time or any other concerns.

MYSTIC ENERGY (Rahasyavadi Urja) CAN DO WONDER

Then contrarily there is Maya or illusion or false impression or misapprehension or personification of that the idea in question is illusory or based on delusion.

It has been seen that Mystic Energy of God can help us drive us out of our predicament since Karma in the form of effort has to be made by us. But our path is covered with effortless ease when we’ve the faith that the Mystic Energy (Rahasyavadi Urja) will show us path thus bestow us energy (Urja) along with self-belief (Shradha) and determination to surpass any hurdle on the path (Raha).

MAYA IS ILLUSION (Rahasmaye)

Maya, in its worldly jargon is connected with illusion or delusion (a non-existent  mythical experience) which is created due to ignorance or lack of knowledge. This shroud or blanket of Maya could be removed by enlightenment through the medium of transmission of knowledge through self-effort or through a Competent Master who has experienced life in variety of situations and conditions. After having acquired the eternal knowledge, the layer of Maya engulfing such evaporates into thin air. Enlightenment of knowledge removes ignorance or myth and brings the dawn of truth.

MYSTISM (Rahasyavadi Urja)

Then we have the concept of Maya which is mystical in nature. Lord Krishna has very rightly related in Bhagward Gita: My divine energy Maya, consisting of the three modes of nature, is very difficult to overcome. But those who surrender unto me cross over it easily. The mystical or magical power of our Creator is attained through complete surrender to the Absolute Self. It is empirical fact that Maya or mystical power is the Supreme Energy of Absolute Self. Lord Krishna has attributed it to be His Energy which cannot be triumphed over since defeating this energy since it is the Super Energy.

SOUL AND ITS CONNECTION WITH GOD

It is also a Truth that our Soul being permanent and a Ultimate Reality whereas our body is impermanent. Understanding the existence of our Soul brings to fore the Ultimate Truth about Supreme Being. In Upnishad, it has been mentioned that Maya is the energy (Prakriti) whereas the God is the Energetic. In Ramyana also the Maya or mithya is an energy which is engaged in the service of God.

MAYA AND TRUTH

It is a fact that where there is Maya, truth cannot be there. Truth cannot change with the change in space and time whereas Maya can. If we want to get rid of the Mays, we have to seek the help of some Guru or a Sadguru who possesses the wisdom of dissemination of knowledge.

BIRTHS AND DEATHS ARE MYSTICAL BUT BASED ON TRUTH

Death is one of the greatest enigma mysteries. The humanity as a whole is surprised  by death’s mystical nature despite multifarious evaluation and evolution including many researches done on this yet shadowy character has not he unraveled. There are several cases wherein a person declared clinical dead came to life after sometimes and even live many years. This is in fact a mystery. It is seemingly invincible and very scary. Only thing which we should remember is that we should always be ready for death without an iota of fear for this event as a person who is born will have to meet his or her end, the time of which is not known.

In fact we do not die. We merely change the body and take physical or astral or casual. Subsequently, we can realize our divine nature and establish oneness with God which is termed as All-conscious and bliss. It goes to prove the establishment of close relationship of body with soul. But while in the body, the person concerned has to be an obedient instrument so as to transcend body-consciousness. Purpose is to acquire purity in mind and spirit so as to attain liberation from births and deaths ultimately.  A sincere seeker always is sincere in thoughts and karma while seeking God.  Here the intensity of seeker’s love counts much.

MYSTISM IN THE DEMISEE OF LORD KRISHNA

The truth about the demise of Lord Krishna of Doapar Yoga is laced in mysticism. The story goes like this, the monkey king Bali was killed by Lord Rama (Incarnated in Treta Yuga) deceptively since nobody could kill him in frontal attack since whosoever fought with him; the opposing fighter was destined to lose half his strength and King Bali would gain such a strength. This boon was gained by King Bali after a severe penance to God. When he was killed by the sharp arrow of Lord Rama, before his death, King Bali prophesied that in next incarnation, the same sort of death would happen to him which happened when a hunter’s arrow struck Lord Krishna at his foot which was very delicate. Thus the mystical forecast of King Bali got fructified proving the relative connection between TRUTH & MYSTICISM besides proving the truth that Karma never forgives any one – kung, pauper or even an incarnation of God. Whatever we do, we get the result of it all.

TRUTH & MYSTICISM ARE RELATIVE TERMS

If God is truth then it goes to show that God’s energy is unlimited and whatever is limitless comes under the domain of mysticism or supernatural or paranatural domain.  This higher consciousness could only be realized by rarest of rare. This is the ambit of all-comprehending. But one thing which sets these rare personalities apart is the inherent capacities of absorption of anything and everything in their persona but remain disinterested in all of those. This disinterested could be construed as the total detachment which is worldly. No egocentric tendencies, no reactive tendencies, remaining grounded at all situations and conditions, remaining balanced at all occasions besides important of all maintaining total connectivity with the SUPREME GOD who is both TRUTH & MYSTIC in nature.

It is a known fact that the mystic prowess of Supreme Lord is indomitable. The case in point of Lord Hanuman Ji is shining example of ultimate power which was not known to him. He was divested of his powers by a curse of a sage who was disturbed by the pranks of Hanuman Ji while he was only a child. But later on, the sage relented and diluted his curse by a condition that if somebody reminded Hnuman Ji about his powers, his powers would return back. This mystery was exhibited when he was reminded about his powers by wise Jamband. This analogy teaches us about the truth of mystic powers of Lord Hanuman Ji. Even we can also exploit our innate powers if we have self-assurance along with belief on God.

TRUTH & MYTH

THE LIGHT OF TRUTH STARES LARGE AT OUR FACES AT ALL TIMES AND AT ALL PLACES

TRUTH

Truth is watertight
Whence our sincere thought
Results  in sincere deeds
The veracity of which culd be tested
At all places and at all times bereft of any doubt
Remaining righteous, optimistic and steadfast
Whatever be the stresses and strains
Thus building our personality with moral fiber
On the solid foundation of truth
Since the character formed
On truth leaves its permanent imprint
On our habits, behavior and attitude
Thus helps shape our holistic character
With which we take on life with full confidence
With fullest strength of our intelligence
To distinguish between right and wrong

For all around growth of our body, mind and soul without any shred of doubt.

MYTH

GOD’S OMNISCIENCCE COULD BE EXPERIENCED

Myth of Maya could be removed from our midst
By the light of knowledge.
This Maya or false impression or illusion
Which is laced in misapprehension
Or ideas wrapped in delusion
Cannot be overly seen
It could be an experience
With a thick blanket of illusion
Which could be eliminated
By removing the darkness of ignorance with light of know-how gained.

Thence the Maya of Omnipotent God
Is really very powerful and prevalent widespread
This magical and mystical power could only be observed
By the devout so sincerest
Through complete surrender
To the Supreme Lord
Having Supreme Energy of Supreme Self
This Supreme Energy
An Ultimate Energy
Cannot just be experienced
Merely through wishful thinking
But through complete surrender
Since it is mystical power
And could be understood
Only through the medium of focused experiences so insightful.

BASANT PANCHCHAMI: ASSOCIATED WITH GODDESS SARASWATI – THE BESTOWER OF GYAN (KNOWLEDGE) AND WISDOM/SAGACITY

BASANT PANCHCHAMI: ASSOCIATED WITH GODDESS SARASWATHI :THE BESTOWER OF GYAN (KNOWLEDGE) AND WISDOM/SAGACITY

BASANT PANCHAMI ASSOCIATED WITH KNOWLEDGE & WISDOM BESTOWED BY GODDESS MAHA SARASWATI

Fairs and festivals are the obviously the beyond question confirmation
That a society as a whole is on the move for commemoration
Of some festivals which are seasonal in nature
Others are related to beliefs so prevalent
But one thing is common in all of festive events
People participate in each of these events so significance
That they are filled with positive synergy when participating in celebration.
Basant Panchami has religio-seasonal connotations
After withstooding the chilling cold of winter season
There has begun much awaited dawn of a season, indeed so very pleasant.
When Mother Nature is at its excellence
Wherein a carpet of yellow mustard plants are one of the best attractions
People put on their yellow attire, so gorgeous
And imbue themselves in natural yellow colour.

There is a legend attached to Basant Panchami festival
Lord Brahma, the Lord of Creation
Happened to see earthwards
After witnessing the condition of his creation on the earth
He felt very sad on seeing
The Mother Earth was bereft of any greenery
Since plant-life with its greenery represents life in all its forms
He scattered some water from His jar,
To the huge surprise of all living beings
Lord Barahma too gifted greenery to the plants in abundance
A scenario so very delightful indeed
Bringing in its wake brightness in natural spectacle
Bringing about verve and vigour in everybody’s life.

Lo and behold, there appeared Goddess Saraswati
The giver of wisdom and erudition
Music, art and craft and knowledge
Goddess Saraswati spreads positive energy
So very suffusing with joy full of life
Her advent brought in its wake greenery all around
With affluence so abundant.

She too is termed as the Goddess of Basant Panchmi!
Wherein yellow flowers sprout in the fields.

Yellow or white flowers are also offered to Godess Saraswati
Along with chanting of beej mantra
OM EN SARASWATE NAMON
For earning her bountiful graces
Devout also put on yellow or white coloured clothes
Suiting the occasion.
Even our food items exhibit yellowness
With saffron strands giving yellow colour
Emitting sweet fragrance everywhere.

People worship the musical instruments
Art, craft and all the learning mediums
For these are the gifts of Goddess Saraswati
Processions in the honour of the Goddess are also taken
To beseech Her to bestow us humans the knowledge and wisdom
Along with power to find the difference between truth and falsehood
Her four hands symbolize ego, intellect, alertness of the mind
Her white dress symbolizes purity
And she loves truth in all forms
Her postures of sitting too has vast meaning.

Our humble prayers to Thee O Goddess Sarasvati
The embodiment of learning, art and craft
We implore Thee O Goddess to remove illiteracy
And ignorance from our midst
And bring forth the dawn of enlightenment with love and light
Remove ego as You are the giver of wisdom
And do imbue us all in THY INDELIBLE COLOUR

BASANT PANCHAMI (WISH YOU ALL HAPPY AND COLOURFUL BASANT

GREEN AND COLOURFUL BASANT PANCHAMI

Basant has been taken from Sanskrit word VASANT’ which means Spring season. Basant Panchami (5TH TITHI) is celebrated in the honour of Goddess Saraswati in different parts of India.

GODDESS SARSWATI IS DIVINITY OF KNOWLEDGE

Goddess Saraswati  is the divinity of knowledge (music, arts, science etc). We worship the Goddess so that she may bestow us necessary knowledge and remove the ignorance from our midst. On this day, people also initiate the education of their small children in their homes or schools besides it is  considered auspicious to start new ventures businesses. Anything and everything initiated on this day with sincere prayers gets fructified as the graces of Goddess Saraswati remains on such a person.

The chanting of Beej Mantra: OM AIGN MAHA SARASWATIYAN NAMAN (ॐ ऐं महासरस्वत्यै नम) – meaning I meditate and bow to thee Maha Saraswati. By chanting this Beej Mantra with utmost sincerity and purposefully, we get Her graces for all including the student community.

ASSOCIATED WITH KAMADEVA AND RATI

Season-wise, chilling cold season ends and start of more pleasant and enjoyable season starts – Basant Ritu. There is also a tradition that in Basant, there is air of love and affection which is associated with kamadeva and his wife named Rati. When we associate this day with Kamadeva, it means there used to be dance based on love in the royal palaces in which the women folks of the royal leanings and other girls used to dance’  (in their best  attires) in the midst of singing suitable for the occasion – basically on love between Krishna and Radha. People put on yellow attire on this occasion in consonance  with the flowering of yellow tamarind  crops. It seems as though the Mother Nature has spread a yellow coloured cloth with seasonal flowers. There is also fragrance of flowers all around.

Basant Panchami is also called as Shree Panchami and Sufi which is observed in Sufi shrines. This festival is also celebrated in different parts of India though slightly differently. People enjoy kite flying, – Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, etc,  Eastern India including Bengal wherein Saraswati idol is immersed in Ganga.

In schools and colleges too, in the morning hours, prayers to Goddess Saraswati are conducted in order to get her graces, blessings for enlightenment and removal of agyan (ignorance). Although whole of the day is considered promising  yet most auspicious time is from sunrise to the midday (which is also termed as the Purvahna Kala) and it is considered as the propitious time to conduct Saraswati Pujan with great reverence and piety for seeking her graces.

FESTIVAL IS ASSOCIATED WITH DIFFERENT ASPECTS

In some parts of India, farmers conduct earth worship (Boomi Pujan) for more agricultural output from their fields before tilling their fields. People eat sweet rice and put on yellow clothes. The yellow colour is associated with Basant Panchami. Dandya dance is also performed on this day in Gujarat state which is also associated with harvesting, sowing and reaping etc. The ploughing implements too are worshipped on this day by the farmers.

This day is most significant for the farmers since some of them are agitating. The negotiations with the farmers are going and on and sure enough something good will emerge with the grace of Goddess Saraswati ultimately.

PRAYER TO LORD SHIVA AND LORD VISHNU AND SUN GOD

People in different relgions also worship Lord Shiva and Godess Parvati including Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi and offer flowers including Sun God and other offerings for their wellbeing. Devotees and compassionates also feed the needy on this occasion.

BASANT PANCHAMI IS CELEBRATED BY ALL

Saint Nizamuddin Aulia was famous for his generosity, compassion and simplicity coupled with humane heart. There used to be Langar at dargah where food was served to all. When his nephew died, he felt so saddened that he stopped all the activities. Then Amir Khusrau wanted to bring him to his normal state. While seeing the women putting on their yellow attire, with colourful flowers, he also put on yellow clothes and flowers and went in front of the Saint. Upon seeing Khuarau in that dress, the Saint smiled. Hence Basant Panchami too is celebrated in Dargah of Saint Nizamuddin Aulia.

The Sikhs too celebrate Basant Panchami. Basant  Raga or Spring Raga (composition) forms one of the well-known Ragas in Sri Granth Sahib Sahib Ji and sung with great reverence. The marriage of Guru Gobind Singh was solemnized on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami.

My sincere prayers to Goddess SARSWATI to grant us all knowledge and also wisdom to use this knowledge meaningfully in day to day lives thereby gain experience. The experience gained helps us to attain wisdom. Having attained wisdom through various experiences gives us insight into how best to come out of difficult situations with ease. Goddess SARASWATI, the deity of knowledge and wisdom paves way for us by making our sincere efforts purposeful.

LOVE CONNECT WITH SAINT VALENTINE

LOVE AND LIGHT ARE IMPORTANT IN OUR LIVES

A love which gives happiness in taking pain of others
It is similar to the the love of Saint Valentine
A Catholic Bishop of Terni
In Roman Empire
Who attained martyrdom for the sake of LOVE
For solemnizing a marriage secretly
Of condemned soldiers
For whom marriage was a bar
Under the Roman Empire’s law
And marrying those forbidden once to marry
Attracted the Saint’s imprisonment
And ultimately martyrdom
Which very year we commemorate.

While in the condemned cell of a prison
With his miraculous touch, he cured the daughter of the jail warden
Saint Valentine sent out a farewell letter
With words so eternal in nature
“From your Valentine”, These immortal words have become a grand brand
Presently for us all to express to our loved ones
With heart suffusing with delicate love
With a huge sprinkle of pride for such a love
Mixed with a huge smile write large on our faces
Lasting for good in our mind’s eye
And in real life too, we live with complete affirmation
That love binds us and bestows us God’s eternal satisfaction.

DOGRAS – ENLIGHTENED & RICH CULTURAL TRADITIONS

DOGRAS ARE STRONG WILLED AS A RACE

THE MYSTIC AND MAJESTIC RAGHNATH TEMPLE IN JAMMU

Dogras are those people who speak Dogri as their mother tongue. This includes people professing different faiths, beliefs, thoughts, based on the principles of fair-mindedness where justice is imparted without any bias. One thing which sets Dogras apart from others is their mental toughness which has proven optimally since they faced and withstood invasions from all sides; both from Mughals, Afghanis and even from Punjab and others. Dogras are known for their resilience, resoluteness, traits of fulfillment of their commitment despite hurdles and provocations, etc. It is in accordance with the Lord Rama’s Kul (Ancestry): Raghukul Reet Sadha Chali Ayi Pran Jaye Par Bachan Na Jaye – t is the tradition of Raghukul to die rather than fulfill commitment.

BAHU FORT WITH BAWE-WALI-MAA – A SHAKTISTHAL WITH DIFFERENCE

WITH TAWI RIVER FLOWING WITH UTMOST SERINITY & MAJESTICALLY

WARM BONHOMIE & COMPLETE HARMONY BETWEEN PEOPLE OF ALL RELIGIONS

Though it is an undisputed fact that although people of different religions (Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, form composite lot as Dogras, yet there has not been any major breach of peace. There has been peace and harmony between the people. All disputes are settled either through judicially or through robust Panchayati Raj System in the rural areas.

BELIEF SYSTEM IN DOGRAS OF ALL HUES

One thing that sets the Dogras is their self-belief and indomitable belief on God. Seemingly, it goes to prove that Dogras are spiritually oriented, where their way of life starts in the morning with prayers and meditation and ends up prayers in the evening prayers. We observe ringing of bells in the temples along with chanting of Mantras/Prayers, Azaans in the Mosques, recitation of Naam in Gurdwaras are heard and followed with immense religious fervor and enthusiasm besides sweet prayers from the Churches. An heavenly existence indeed.

It is also worthwhile to mention here that Dogras worship their Family Deities. There is also common Deity of different sub-castes where people gather every year and commemorate their Deities. For example, my family deities are: Raja Kalivir Ji, Maa Mal Devi Ji, Reverent Bua Ji besides Baba Guru Ji.

ORIGIN OF DOGRAS

Although, the origin of Dugars or Dogras has many historical perspectives but whatever is known to us through various sources, one thing which sets them apart is their sense of commitment which remains in Dogras even presently. In other words, it is in their blood.

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE OF DOGRA AND DUGAR DESH

In essence, the historical perspectives of Dugar Desh is really very colourful. One thing is sure to impress us is the bravery, steadfastness, farsightedness, courage, adaptive instincts etc. One thing which stands out is their zeal to withstand any adverse eventuality and then will to survive and come out unscathed. This has proven, if we go through the historical perspective of Dogras. Many a times, the Dogras faced many a hurdles but due to their inborn courage and determination they rose and established themselves to make difference.

ADAPTIVE NATURE WITH SIMPLICITY AS THEIR PLANK

Besides having unquestionable integrity and loyalty, the Dogras are known for their adaptive nature. In other words, the Dogras can adjust in any changing situations and conditions. Wherein so ever they go and settle, they adjust with the environs they live without much difficulty because they are not having any set agenda. The Dogras believe in simple living and high thinking. They pride in their cultural identities without causing any aspersion (daamareekaran) on others. Love begets love is the forte of every Dogras.

Dogras are known for their straightforwardness and fair-play, compassionate to the core and are always ready to contribute their mite in whatever way they are capable of. The Dogras are sincere with simple attitude and behavior pattern since Dogra blood flows in my veins. As a Dogra I have seen many a ups and downs in my life yet with inborn traits of changing with the changed situation and condition have come out unscathed with self-belief and strong belief on Supreme God. Jammu is also termed as the CITY OF TEMPLES wherein there are innumerable temples at every nook and corner. Then we have BAHU FORT where there is the temple of BAWE DI MAA wherein people get their problems solved through insightful and sincerest prayers.

The Dogras are sweet natured with their Mother Tongue as the sweetest one. Mithdi eh Dogren Di Boli Te Khand Mithe Log Dogre….(ए होए मिट्ठडी ऐ डोगरें दी बोली ते खंड मिट्ठे लोग डोगरे””) proves that Dogras are sweet tempered, well immersed and well versed in their cultural mores of behaviour.

No enduring purpose would be served till such time we make mention about the VALIANT POLICE FORCE. They are courageous, dispassionate along with the traits of dealing with the law and order situations with aplomb without any bias or discrimination. Besidess, the Dogras’ contribution for the defence of our country is second to none. The contribution of defence personnel from Samba, Jammu and other areas is exemplary. Their devotion to duty, dedication and loyalty are second to none. We are obviously proud of Army and Police forces. It is most relevant to mention that the terrorism unleashed by our neighbor could not have been leashed but by the joint efforts of military and central para-military forces along with the active support of J&K Police.

JAMMU AND ITS ADJOINING ARE REPLETE WITH AMAZING SITES

DOGRA & THEIR CHEQUERED HISTORY

Jammu city was founded by Jambu Lochan
About 3,000 years ago
On the right banks of river Tawi
He considered this site as the most appropriate
Since he saw a goat and a lion taking water together
His brother Bahu Lochan
Had laid the foundation of the city on the left side
Of the river Tawi
Tawi river is most sacred one indeed
Since it has layers of many a historical perspective in its bosom
Some very mystical but full of love,
some very hysterical
Some very historical.
My most venerable Bawe-Wali-Maa too is witness to all
What happened there – on the Eastern & Western side of Tawi.

The reference of this city is found too
In the chronicles of Timur Lung
Who ransacked this town
During his 1398-99 invasion
Timur found the people full of courage
Well built and feared none
Whosoever came their way
During this invasion
They faced with utmost guts
That time Jammu was ruled by Maldev
Who converted to Islam after his defeat
But reconverted to Hinduism afterwards
Then Jammu was ruled by Bhim Dev.

During 15th century Bhim Dev helped Sultan Mubarak Shah
Of Delhi against Jasrat Kokhar of Punjab
But unfortunately was killed during that action.

Subsequently, Jammu remained at war
With the rulers of Punjab and others
Till under the rule of Kapur Dev
Differences started simmering in the ruling family after 1571.

The two sons of Kapur Dev – Samil Dev and Jay Dev
Declared their independent rules
At right and left side of the River Tawi
Jammu and Bahu respectively.

This dissention made Jammu weak
It made the task of Mughals easy – a cake walk
For the Mughals to take control over the entire territory.

The two sided got united under the rule of Hari Dev during 1652-82
But the unity was short lived
After the demise of Hari Dev.

Then during the rule of Ranjit Dev
Jammu became peaceful again
In fact gained past glory again
He extended his territories extensively
Then the Dogras became bold and started
Robbing the Mughal caravans
Between Punjab and Kashmir.

The rift between the two royal families
Were exploited by Moghals
Attacked and defeated Ranjit Dev in 1748
And his step-brother Ghansar Dev was installed to rule.
In 1760 , Ranjit Dev came back and started ruling Jammu.
Thereafter he started expand hising his territory
Due to the weakening of Mughal empire
Because of invasion of Afghanis
By 1773 Ranjit Dev’s empire expanded
From Jasrota to Kaluwal on Chenab to Gurdaspur,
Even Rajouri, Bhimber and Poonch came under Jammu
It was during this rule that there was economic sufficiency
Along with the stability of territory
Under the rule of Ranjit Dev rule and a glorious history.
Woefully, after the demise of Ranjit Dev in 1780
The Jammu suffered under Sikh Misls
After Afghanis left Punjab.

After the death of Ranjit Dev
His son Brij Lal took over
Subsequently, was succeeded by his one year old son
Thence there was change of guard
Yet the condition was not as stable as during Ranjit Dev rule
Then Ajit Singh, the nephew of Brij Lal took over the reigns
Then under the banner of Maharaj Ranjit Singh in 1808
Maharaja sent his army under Hukam Singh invaded Jammu
Mian Mota with a small force confronted Sikh army
The two armies met outside the Gumat Gate.

Here, young Gulab Singh of only 16 years old
Played a prominent role in this battle
Along with Mian Dido
A Dogra Hero
This battle became an example for others too
Hukam Singh was forced to withdraw his forces
But thereafter the Jammu’s defences
Could not sustain the onslaught of Sikh Army
The whole of Jammu was under Sikh suzerainty
Then picture changed dramatically
Mian Dido decided fighting Sikhs
Whereas Gulab Singh decided cooperating with Sikhs
Subsequently, he was made the Commander of Sikh Army
Thereafter, Maharaja Ranjit Singh awarded him two Jagirs
In 1819, Kashmir was brought under Sikh rule
And in this Gulab Singh played a main role.

His bravery in various battles proved his mettle
As a great warrior and loyalty
He became an example which is difficult to emulate.

Whereas Mian Dido continued with his guerrilla tactics
Mian Dido was the descendent from Hari Dev
Who ruled Jammu from 1652 to 1688 with utmost earnestness
His generosity and helpful attitude towards his subjects was excellent
He won the hearts and minds of his people of all cultural identities.

Mian Dido too was received with open hands by the people
He assisted the poor people
Even by plundering the rulers
Thereby proving to be a Robin Hood of Jammu
He inflicted heavy causalities on the Sikh garrison
With his guerilla battle tactics.
By 1816, he had earned for himself name and reputation
So much so was his influence on general masses
That even the communication
Between Punjab and Kashmir had become unsafe by the rulers
In 1820, he looted the fruits and other materials came from Kashmir
Thus becoming an affront to Maharaja Ranjit Singh
When everything failed to placate Mian Dido
Gulab Singh persuaded Maharaja Ranjit Singh
To let him chastise Mian Dido
Which was ultimately agreed.

Thereafter, Gulab Singh was awarded with jagirs in Jammu region
Subsequently, he was awarded the title of Raja
Gulab Singh identified the supporters of Mian Dido
Then tried to weed them off and keep them away from Mian Dido
He was forced to move to Trikuta peak- near Shrine Vaishno Devi
There were fights between Dido and forces against him
From then on, after the death of Mian Dido
The agitation launched by him ended too.

Gulab Singh even helped to locate and capture Agar Khan
A known fugitive who challenged the Lahore Court
Maharaja Ranjit Singh was more than convinced
That Gulab Singh was the fittest persona for ruling Jammu
Hence he was conferred as the ‘Rajgi’ of Jammu
On 17th January 1822 at Akhnoor.

Jammu along with many other Jagirs were also dovetailed
So, he was made the Raja of a vast territory by Maharaja Ranjit Singh
As was hitherto done by his powerful ancestor Ranjit Dev.

In the Dogra-Tibetan War
Fought between May 1841 to August 1842
Between the forces of Dogra
And Tibetian under Qing China
Raja Gulab Singh’s General Zorawar Singh Kahluria
Conquered Ladakh
And he was defeated due to the inclement weather
Thence Jawahir Singh was sent with reinforcement
In the battle near Leh in 1842
Lead to a Tibetan defeat
Then status quo ante was reached and maintained
Under the treaty of Chushul in 1842.

ANIMAL INSTINCT

ANIMAL INSTINCT

May be an image of sky, tree and nature

EVEN THE MOTHER NATURE TOO HAVE SOME ATTRACTIONS WITH ITS NEGATIVE IMPACTS IF WE FAIL TO COMPREHEND IT FULLY

There exists, out of the ordinary urge within
Termed as animal instinct
An urge, kept as hidden secret
Even the bearer may not accept
About the presence of this instinct.

This animal ego manifests itself
Which we all may disregard at first
May hide or let this negative instinct
Allowed to fester and perpetuate
In the form of huge sense-of-self
Which, if allowed to go out of control
Manifests and takes a gigantic form
Thus sapping the reserve of positive strength
Of the person concerned.

In our day to day dealings with others
In our behavior and attitude
Which not only adversely impacts
Outer lookout
But also sullies our inner recesses of our heart.

When awareness dawns
Thru our sincere self-introspection
Then an urge from within us emerges
To get rid of this animal instinct.

But first of all we’ve to have sincere acceptance
Of animal-ego existence
And then try earnestly
To get rid of this ego-instinct
By our self efforts with utter sincerity.

An honest effort from our inner-self
To uproot and erase the last traces of this negative instinct
From our system which has taken root
Then pure-consciousness emerges from within.

Then a realization should dawn within
That nothing ever happens
Without experiencing these unique experiences.

We should bear in mind
We cannot have total transformation
From negative animal instinct
To a refined and detached one
From body, mind and intellect
Till such time we make honest effort.

For this to be reality in real sense of terms
Our mind has to be integrated
With our being with a reckoning most astute
That there exists a permanent soul.

It should be understood that for a higher consciousness
We’ve to be fair-minded and far-sighted
Always ready to be integrated
Into all-understanding domain
Thus transcending animal instinct
Thereby transforming ourselves into all-comprehending
And all-encompassing LOVE
And amalgamate our Soul with Absolute Being.

ANIMAL INSTINCT

May be an image of tree, sky and nature

In essence, It is a fact that there exists an animal instinct in all of us in one form or other. This animal instinct or animal–ego tendency accentuates as we placate and grease it still further rather than keeping ourselves free from this negative urge as and when we are under its influence. For example, whenever somebody provokes us, ethically or unethically, we want to pay in the same coin. Contrarily, if we just introspect and keep cool and be patient the results would be rather positive and constructive one,  Getting excited and in our excitement going off the tangent may bring in misery impacting our composure and wellness.

We should always keep in mind that  negative urge could be one or mix of  anger, greed, bitterness, lust for power and pelf etc. All these lower our persona in the eyes of others. All these negative traits in one form or other could spell our downfall.

We should try to introspect and see how best to get rid of the animal ego dormant in ourselves.  For this, timely action has to be done otherwise its adverse affects will multiply and may give us sleepless nights. It is because under the influence of the animal-ego, we tend to lose control over our mind. Losing control over our mind means losing control over the realities of our life. Losing control over our lives means losing sight of the very purpose of our existence. These realities of  lives have to be experienced and lived with.

Although periodical self-awareness  is a must yet it cannot be eradicated just by wishful thinking only. We’ve to therefore deliberate seriously and then attack the very roots of negative traits so that nothing comes in our way for our holistic growth and development.

Need  is to enhance our self-consciousness by our righteous thoughts, righteous Karmic deeds with full application of spiritual orientation in our lives. By doing so, we shall be having a all-understanding, all-comprehending and all-encompassing LOVE.

The end result should be to efface and wipe out the ANIMAL INSTINCT from within our own self so that our SOUL becomes in sync with SUPREME LORD.

From the foregoing, it is crystal clear that although all of us are having animal ego yet need is to keep this elusive animal instinct under tight sheath so that it does not go out of control when cool mental composure is the need of hour. God willing, everything has got its price-tag. Here the price-tag is in the form of tolerance, patience, composure, sense of purpose in our endeavour, staying cool despite provocation etc. Let’s see how much we can change ourselves for a PURPOSEFUL LIVING bereft of ANIMAL INSTINCT for a refined and positively oriented KARMIC PATH.
