INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLEGAL TRAFFICKING

INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLEGAL TRAFFICKING : TODAY

DRUG ADDICTION CREATES DARKNESS IN THE MINDS OF PEOPLE

Pursuant to Resolution General Assembly 42/112 of 7th December 1987,26th June is construed as the INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLEGAL TRAFFICKING. The main purpose is to stop or minimize the drug trafficking which is adversely impacting the lives of multitudes around the world. On this day, iet’s take a pledge to do everything in preventing the illicit use of drugs and save the humankind from its ill effects.

Addiction is an obsession, passion, craze, compulsive trait, mania and fixation of an individual which impacts the character adversely since this sort of behaviour pattern is obsessive in nature.  Addiction is, in other words; unconventional behavior  and acentric behaviour pattern which impacts a person concerned psychological and physiologically. For example, when an individual is addicted to drugs or drinking or gambling or smoking or compulsive behaviour or any other behaviour pattern which once gets seeped into the system, it is difficult to get rid without sincere efforts. Then craze for more power, or overindulgence in use of abusive/or profane or  toxic  language,  obsession for worldly possessions by adopting ulterior means etc.

It has been observed that consumption of illegal drugs is rampant around the world.  Although the authorities that be are trying their maximum to stop this menace yet drug abuse remains. The  illicit drug market is estimated to be 1% of total global trade.

HOW ADDICTION HAPPENS?

The compulsive behaviour for anything happens when we practice a pattern habit most passionately till such time the person concerned is over powered by the craze of following such habit. First of all the pattern of habit starts when somebody initiates us with such a habit. For instance, when one of ourtrusted friends offers us drinks or drug without payment till such time it becomes compulsive habit. We become single-mindedly inclined to follow such a habit without realizing its consequences. Care should be talen that we have to nip the habit in the  but otherwise such a habit becomes a huge burden or a huge drag for the person concerned. In other words, it becomes uncontrollable habit which is termed as addiction.

Understandingly, when drugs are used persistently as a habit becomes a drag on our health and wellness. It can have mental health issues. Therefore, effort should be made in curtailing the intake lest it  becomes a habit.

CREATION OF ADDICTION IN THE INDIVIDUAL CONCERNED

It has been observed that drugs when used periodically, it creates an addiction in the individual concerned. For example Heroin is the  most addictive.

DANGEROUS STIMULANT

There are drugs which  are highly stimulant as even a small dose can inculcate strong stimulant effects. For example cocaine is a strong and dangerous stimulating agent.

INTENSE EUPHORIC SENSATION

Then there is a form of cocaine a very potent drug termed as crack. It is used in smokes which can create very dangerous stimulating effect on the system of the individual concerned.

HALLUCINATION

The drug used could produce hallucination or elusive mindset which could provide counter productive in the long run.

ALCOHOL

Occasional intake of alcohol can produce addictive effective in the individual concerned and adversely affect the individual concerned.

INHALANT

There are people who use smoke pipe as inhalant for satisfaction of their addictive instinct though this also impairs the individual concerned.

The other causes of addiction are:-

• Frustration in resolving the intricacies with regard to love and relationship.
• Sudden failure or persistent losses incurred in business deals.
• Financial stringency.
• Not getting employment despite requisite qualifications.
• Offspring not able to come to the expectations despite best efforts.
• Incompatibility between the spouses.

A time comes when this prisoner of bad habits just is not having anything left – not merely monetarily but also physically. The result of this is body afflictions with disastrous consequences.

• Drug Use in Children / Adolescents. Drug abuse starts in the early stage itself. It starts on experimental basis and then becomes a solid habit. It is sad that the use of drug like heroin and amphetamine-type stimulants (ATS) is resorted by below the age group of 25! Even alcohol; tobacco consumption; amongst this age group is on the ascendancy. Then the high use of intravenous drugs and needle sharing is the result of debilitating diseases like HIV/AIDS. This age group is most impressionable. In this age group the child has to make a solid foundation / base for his future life – acquiring education; pursuing some vocation or avocation and finally having a life partner for a happy married life. But as the individual has got nothing to bank on; he resorts to crimes for quelling his habit.

• Withering of Family Fabric. Family is the sacred institution where husband and wife pool their personal resources and make concerted efforts that this institution runs and runs purposefully for the welfare of the whole family. While one member of the family sweats and the other one fritters away the hard earned resources in alcohol or drug abuse then there are fissures in the family unity. There may be constant bickering between spouses and family development as a unit is just shattered. How long this family fabric could work in unison?

• Suicidal Tendencies. The sad part of the consequence of drug abuse is that it acts as a depressant – divesting the person concerned of fighting spirit. A time comes when that person loses will to live and that is the sad end of the commentary of life for that individual.

• Enemy of Spirituality. Those who are afflicted with the abhorrent habit of drug abuse just are seen to be repulsed from the spiritual way of life.
• With this intention in mind, I have penned a poem entitled: ‘DRUG ABUSE & ITS CONSEQUENCES’ kindly give your comments so that more of these topics could be penned down for optimum benefit.

STOPPAGE OF USE OF ILLICIT DRUGS

For stopping drug abuse especially marijuana and cocaine and  hashish is a crying need since their use as illicit drugs have increased. Drug trafficking is increasingly regarded as an offence around the world. Though penalties for drug abuse remains yet there is increased consumption of drug abuse. Drug smuggling attracts severe penalties in many countries yet smuggling continues.

Then there are widespread manufacture of illicit medicine.  There are countries which produce and carry out drug trade.

Addiction of illicit drugs, alcoholic drinks or any other habit when that habit becomes possessive one cause mental health issues. These habits should be eradicated, the sooner it is done the better for the individual concerned.

ADDICTION

Some have addiction for drugs
Knowing fully well that it saps the internal energy.

Some have addiction for
alcoholic drinks
Even knowing it is bad for their health.

Some have addiction for insatiable lust for wealth
They’ll over indulge in it even at the cost of health.

Some have addiction for gambling
Thus losing everything in they are possessing.

Some have addiction for shopping as a habit
Even spending the hard money to satisfy this crazy habit.

Some have addiction for shoplifting
They will do it even after being caught red handed.

Some have addiction for backbiting
Even putting their honour at stake.

Some have addiction for acquiring authority
For following it they’ll even stoop so low that we can see.

Some have addiction for taking risks
Thus putting their own lives at a huge risk.

Some have addiction for taking fast foods
Even if it has worst effect on their health and wellness.

Some have addiction for playing cards
Thus wasting their precious time on unproductive pursuits.

Some have addiction for power
For getting it, they’ll take recourse to anything under the sun.

Some have addiction for telling lies
Thus putting their honour at stake in a big way.

Some have addiction for over sleeping
Even at the cost of physical conditioning.

Some have addiction for procrastination
Even putting off things which could be done instantly.

Some have addiction for picking holes in others pockets
Without realizing, there are so many holes in their own pockets.

Some have addiction for internet
Thus wasting precious time to satisfy their passion.

Some have addiction for worldly possessions
Even adopting corrupt practices for fulfilling his obsession.

Some have addiction for video games
Thus wasting the time for unproductive pursuits.

There are drugs which are beneficial when used as medicine and in quantity as prescribed by the medical expert. But  when intake of drugs becomes a habit, it  impacts the character of the individual concerned    adversely since this sort of behavior  pattern is obsessive in nature.

HOW BEST TO DEADDICT

The following should always be kept in mind for ridding ourselves from addiction:

  • We should have total control over our mind since uncontrolled mind and senses are responsible for our habit formation. Therefore, controlling our mind is a must.
  • When somebody initiates us with some bad habit of drinking or smoking or drug, we should first of all introspect why such person wants to spend money on us. Reason for such a thought is not far to see if we use our faculties.

POSITIVE FRAME OF MIND COULD HELP US RIDDING ANY HABIT

  • Even after addiction, we can get rid of the bad habit with self effort and strong determination.
  • We should seek medical care within the shortest timeframe. There are so many rehabilitation centre from where help could be had for ridding this bad habit. But again, sincere efforts for recovery have to start from our within.
  •
  • Self belief and belief on our God can deliver us from this bad habit. This could be done by following spiritually oriented existence.

In sum, we all are aware of the crying need of preventing the drug trafficking since it is not only polluting the young minds and resulting in creating them a physical wreck but also creating mental health issues. Therefore, best way is to tighten our laws for awarding severe punishment for those who are instrument in spreading the drug abuse amongst the general masses thus ruining the future of our younger generations.

LIFE OF BAL GOPAL IN BRAJ BHOOMI

SELF WITH MY WIFE IN MATHURA

LIFE OF BAL GOPAL IN BRAJBHOOMI

Mathura is a sacred place
Where the most sacred celestial ones
Shri Radha Rani and Lord Krishna
Took birth and showcased their Leela
To the gentry at large
Especially Krishna
As a Bal Gopal
Part of period he remained in Mathura
Performing his fascinating pastimes
Of early childhood prattle
And in adolescence
Along with his elder brother Balrama
Along with his toli
When his Bal Leela started
His pastime started when he was only three years infant
He was taken to a festival
While his mother was busy cooking food
He infant child rose from the slumber
On hearing the rhythmic sound of music
Playfully he kicked the wheel of a huge card
Out of its moorings
With a thud it fell
All got startled
And started wandering
How come this could happen
A three years old infant
Could hit the cart !!

One such most prominent Bal Leela
Was performed by the Bal Gopal
Into the Yamuna river
Whose water was poisoned by the Kalia Naag
To scare away the inhabitants of Nandgaon
Perforce, Bal Gopal had to jump
To bring a hand-made ball by Shri Radha
He searched for the ball at the bottom of river Yamuna
And found it in possession of Kalia Naag
Who was reluctant to give him that Ball
Instead Kalia Naag wanted to kill the Bal Gopal
Bal Gopal showcased his Celestial (Deeviata) Powers
To overpower the poisonous and ferocious Naag
Over-powered the Naag
Kalia Naag realized his grievous mistake
Thereafter, Bal Gopal performed His Celestial Nirtak – dance
On the multi-headed Kalia Naag
He did not kill Kalia Naag
Since Kalia Naag was suffering the pangs
Of his earlier birth when he showed his anger
Without any reason
And earned the curse of a Rishi
That he will take birth as an angry Naag
Bal Gopal carried out deliverance from the Rishi’s curse.

Then he showcased his celestial prowess
He developed a strange habit
Of putting mud in his mouth
The Gops and Gopis complained
To Yashodha about this
She took out a stick
And demanded to show her
His mouth
He opened his mouth
Lo and behold
She was aghast
Could hardly believe what she saw
To see the entire universe
Along with Gokula
With her own image in it
Along with others around!!

Thence, at the age of six
He developed a fondness of eating butter
and started stealing butter
After entering the homes of his Gopas and Gopis
Then he along with his Gopas
Broke the earthen pots of the Gopis
Complaints to Yashodha were many times over
One day
Fed up by his pranks
She fastened him with a rope
With wooden mortar
Maa Yashodha thought
That the Bala can hardly
Break free from the tight knot
And the mortar
But finding nobody near to him
He pushed the mortar along
Entangled it with twin trees
From where two persons appeared
Named Nalakuvara and Maniguva
Thus the two got deliverance
From the slur
Which they had received
From a Rishi.

Thence there were so many events
Which showed he was not an ordinary being
But a celestial one
Who could take high and mighty demons
With his Celestial prowess
Such as Putana, Trinavasta, Aghasura
And mighty Bakasura
Amongst other demons
Which were annihilated
By him
While he was merely
A child or an adolescent!!

After killing King Kamsa
A vicious one
He felt very sad
Since he was his own Mama
His mother’s elder brother?
But he was very cruel
Who even had imprisoned
His own father
In order to get throne!!

Krishna remained only for eleven years in Mathura
And showcased his prowess
Who annihilated demons
The most ferocious ones.

Thence he spent rest of his life
Of around 120 years as a Dwarka ruler
He also assisted the best Dhanushdhari
Arjuna in assuaging his doubts
To fight with his own kiths and kins
In the battle between Kaurvas and Pandavas
Which was compiled as Bhagwad Gita
As dictated by Sage Ved Vyasa
And penned down by Lord Ganesha
Without any interruption.

LIFE OF LORD KRISHNA IN BRAJ BHOOMI

MATHURA

Mathura is a vivacious town, lively and awe-inspiring town which attracts pilgrimages not merely from India but from other parts of the world. Such is the attraction of this pious place that people would like to visit this place many times over. This place is also known as Braj Bhoomi’.

It is around 130 Kms from Delhi and about 60 Kms from Agra with air, rail and road connectivity. It is famous for temples in Mathura such as temple of birth place (Janamboomi) of Lord Krishna, Dwarkadish Temple, Radha Kund, Krishna Kund, Vishram Ghar, Rangji Temple besides the most prominent one Banke Bihari temple. Banke Bihari temple attracts a lot of devotees both in the morning and evening time slots. Temples in Vrindavan, Goverdhan, Mansi Ganga, Krishna and Radha Kunds and Gokul too are visited by the devotees with great zeal and enthusiasm.  Visiting all these places fills the devout with fervor, unlimited zeal and devotion along with filling the devotees with eternal love of RADHAKRISHNA in order to engender a feeling of KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS.

A few days back, I was fortunate, with the grace of KANAHA JI to visit some of the sacred places of repute and found all the places a symbol of cleanliness with swachhata at its best in general. A huge salutation to the authorities that be to keep the entire places near and clean.

BANKEY BIHARI MANDI

Bankey Bihari Temple was first of all established by  Swami Haridas who was Guru of Tansen, a famous singer.  Due to his intense devotion and meditation, the Celestial couple  Radha Krishna appeared before him and the devotees. Then on the request of Swamiji, the two merged into one and there appeared the idol of Banke Bihari  which was established in Nidhivan and subsequently brought to its present location after construction of the temple.

BARSANA TOWNSHIP

shri RADHA RANI TEMPLEN BARSANA

Barsana is located on a ridge slope termed as Bhanugarh hills (820 ft. in height). Pilgrimages visit this place to have dharshan of Shri Radha Rani Temple. In earlier times, this place was called as Brahmasaran.

Regular bus service is easily available for Barsana and from there to places where one wants to visit. The cabs, three wheeler drivers are very accommodative and helpful. Here too hotels and inns or shrines are available for night stay for the pilgrimages according to their requirement and choice.

I along with my family members enjoyed the not only the ambiance of this sacred place but also the reverberation of songs and dances by the devotees. There was joy writ large on the faces of the visitors. The inhabitants of this place are suave, helpful and pleasing in their demeanor. It is pertinent to mention that even the monkeys of Barsana are not aggressive!

Apart from Shri Radha Rani temple there are other famous temples such as Maan Temble, Mor Kutir, Krishna Kund, Radha Sarovar including Sasnkari Khor. Every temple has its unique feature and significance. Barsana is the birth place of Shri Radha Rani.

Shri Radha Rani is considered as the sacred one and then we term it as Shri Shri Laadli Lal (beloved daughter and son) – the famous name with which we call Radha Krishna which are the main deities in the temple. The other names for this temple are Shreeji and Shri Laadli Lal Temple. One may call this temple by any name but the importance and the sacredness of this place remains etched in the minds of the pilgrimages.

There are around 200 stairs from ground to the main temple of Shri Radha Rani. At the foot of the steps, there is a palace of Vrishabhanu Maharaj is located. It houses the idols of Vrishabhanu, Kirtida, Sridama and Shri Radha.

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE OF SHRI RADHA RANI MANDIR

DEVOUYD SINGINH SONGS IN PRAISE OF SHRI RADHA RANI

There is also a mystery in the construction and other aspects of the temple. Lord Krishna’s father Shri Nanda and Shri Radha’s father were very close friends. Shri was incharge of Gokula and Vrishbhanu was incharge of Rawal but due to ill-treatment of King Kansa, they were forces to be relocated to Nandgaon and Barsana.

It is believed that Shri Radha Rani Temple is more than 5000 years old. This temple was lying in a dilapidated condition before King Vajranabh (The great Grandson of Lord Krishna) constructed it. Subsequently, Narayan Bhatt, the disciple of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu constructed it. Then in 1675 Raja Veer Singh erected it and after that Narayan Bhatt with the help of Raja Todarmal constructed this temple which is in the present form of excellence in architectural amazing thing.

It is also important to mention that this temple is visited by innumerable devotees in all the seasons but the main festivals in which devotees from all over the world visit this place are during Holi (Termed as Lathmar Holi) and Janamashthmi. During these festivals pilgrimages throng this place in huge number.

One can visit the temple between 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9: 00 PM.

VRINDAVAN IN MATHURA

I visited Vrindavan at the time of Holi once. The Lathmar Holi celebrated by the devout was obviously awe-inspiring . The enthusiasm and fervor exhibited by the participants is really commendable. Then during Krishna Janamashthami and Radha Janamasthami days the whole of Vrindavan shows its pristine look. During these festivals, the devotees throng this sacred place in a huge numbers and colour themselves in the hue of Lord Krishna.

NIDHIVAN

Nidhivan is spread in a vast expanse of 2.5 acres with trees in the sacred forest are of similar shapes and sizes. It is believed that these Tulsi trees turn into Gopis at night and have Rasleela.

DEEP DEVOTION COULD COMPEL EVEN THE GOD TO US

The word Nidhivan is derived from Sanskrit meaning the ‘Forest of treasure’. It is said that Nidhivan was settled by a Guru names Haridas. Due to his deep devotion and  severe penance and meditation compelled Lord Krishna to visit Nidhivan. It is said that Nidhivan temple is visited by Lord Krishna or Thakurji at night with his Gopis and conduct divine dance or Raasleela along with Shri Radha Raniji. This divine dance is also termed as Rasleela which is generated of pure love and devotion – overflowing love of Gopis for Lord Krishna.  This divine dance is mystical in many ways than one. Firstly, it takes places at night and secondly no human can see this divine dance. Those who venture to see this dance get irretrievable ill affects to their body systems.

IT IS BELIEVED THAT NOBODY CAN VISIT THE NIDHIVAN AT NIGHT TO WITNESS THE RASLEELA

It is said that at night, nobody visits the Nidhivan since it is believed that those venturing this place at night either lose their mental balance or go dumb or die in shock. There are samathis of those who dared to venture to visit this place at night and had to meet unfortunate consequences.

During the day time, the sacred Kunj or temple is abuzz with activities and remains enlivened with birds chirping, monkeys chattering  and thronging of thousand of devotees. But at night all the activity in and around the Kunj stops. Even the houses around the place do not have windows just to peep outside their houses at night in order to catch a glimpse of Raasleela.

TEMPLE OF LORD KRISHANA AND SHRI RADHA RANI

Nidhivan houses a very beautiful temple with idols of Shri Radha  Rani and Lord Krishna. This temple is surrounded by a sacred ‘Kunj’ or forest. It is this temple where Lord Krishna and Shri Radha Rani rest after their Raasleela.

TEMPLE CALLED AS RANG MAHAL

There is a small temple termed as Rang Mahal which has got its special significance. It is a temple where Lord Krishna decorates Shri Radha with his own hands. The priests keep a varieties of items in this temple viz; tooth brushes, a saree, bangles , paan leaves and sweets are kept  in Rang Mahal before closing the gates after the aarti  of night. Surprisingly, it is said that in the morning hours when the gate is opened, all the items are found to be scattered showcasing as though somebody had used them.

TEMPLES SURROUNDED TULSI (BASIL) PLANTS IN PAIRS

Around these temples there are Tulsi (Basil) plants which though are bent yet are in pairs and particularly entangled with each other!. It is said that these Tulsi plant represent different Gopis and bent earthwards since they are bereft of any ego but are overflowing with love for Lord Krishna. There is one Tulsi plant (bent form) which is separate from other pairs of plants. This is believed to represent Lord Krishna.

IMPORTANCE OF TULSI

The Tulsi plant destroys negative energy from the house and generates positive energy. It has got medicinal value too. Planting Tulsi plant at home gives peace and prosperity to the family as a whole.

While I visited Nidhivan with my family members, I felt as though I am in the Seventh Heaven. Every atom of this sacred place emitted positive vibes and joyous fervor. We observed happiness, smiles and blissfulness on the faces of devotees.

MANSI GANGA

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE OF MANSI GANGA

MANSIGANGA

Mansi means mind since Ganga at Govardhan was created with the power of mind. Then the steps and all other construction around the tank was carried out by Raja Bhagwan Das of Amer in 1637 and subsequently beautified by Raja Man Singh.

The existence of Mansi Ganga is from the time when Lord Krishna used to stay in Vrindavan during his youthful time. It has a special place for the devotees since it was created with the Divine intervention of Lord Krishna.

As legend goes, Nand Bana and Yasodha, the foster parents of Lord Krishna wanted to take a dip in the sacred Ganga river. With the Divine Intervention of Lord Krishna he brought Ganga to Govardhan.

TAKING BATH IN MANSI GANGA BESTOWS LOVE FOR LORD KRISHNA

The devouts take a dip in the sacred Mansi Ganga since it is believed that taking holy bath there bestows love for Lord Krishna and bestows peace in the mind of the devotees. The devotees can also visit various temples around this place.

DEVOTEESTKIMG BATH WITH THE WATER OFMANSI GANGA

GOVARDHAN PARVAT OR GIRIRAJ

It is a most prominent place in Braj Bhoomi. It is a hillock which is also termed as the form of Lord Krishna Himself. A Govardhan Parikrama of around 21 Kms is undertaken by the devout. It is considered as most auspicious. The devotees take a dip in the Mansi Ganga when they start their 21 Parikarma around the Giriraj and end their Parikarma after taking a bath against at Mansi Ganga.

MANSIGANGA

In essence, every speck in and round Braj Bhoomi has special significance, yet, a visit to this sacred place could enlighten us immensely and fill us with KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS hugely.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA TODAY

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA TODAY

“Tasmad asaktah satatam karyam karma samacara asakto hy acaran karma param apnoti purushah” BHAGWAD GITA

YOGA EXERCISES

Meaning, one should simply focus on Karma and leave everything onto God. It also goes to show that a Yogi should be focused on the action but not the outcome of that action. It should also be in line with our spiritually orientated way of existence.

VARIOUS TYPES OF YOGA

There are three types of Yoga which are described in Bhagwad Gita: Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Jnana Yoga. Karma Yoga is the path of selfless thoughts and actions, Bhakti oga is the path of devotion to God and thirdly Jnana Yoga is the path of knowledge to remove ignorance. All these are essential for living a balanced life.

MEANING OF YOGA

The word YOGA has been originated from the Sanskrit word ‘yuja’ meaning to integrate or bind or to align to unite to act or to discipline oneself to act in a natural way to seek complete self-realization or self-awareness. It means the unity or integration of an individual’s consciousness with that of Universal Consciousness.

YOGA THEORY AND PRACTICE

It is relevant to mention that Yoga Sutras is the theory and practice collated and propagated by Maharishi Patanjali. The Yoga Sutras has a collection of 198 Sutras in number. These were compiled between 500 BCE and 200 BCE. These contain indepth knowledge about Yoga being followed from olden times. His contribution has been recognized as the best for the benefit of humanity. It provided harmony between man and the nature.

LORD SHIVA WAS THE FATHER OF YOGA

The origin of Yoga is mystic in nature. by 5th Century BC, Yoga was very popular. It also finds its place in Vedic Scriptures. But it cannot be disputed that Lord Shiva was the father of ancient Yoga; as His posture shows Him in Yogic mode.

IMPORTANCE OF KARMA YOGA

Karma Yoga has been amply mentioned in Bhagwad Gita stresses that we should transact our actions and detach from the fruits of those actions. Meaning when our actions are based on sound and rational thoughts then their results will have to be good. Also by detaching ourselves from the fruits, we’re able to concentrate/focus on out actions besides offering those actions to God rather than frittering our energies by attaching ourselves with result of our action. In this a YOGI regularly practices YOGIC PRACICES.

SPECIAL SIGNIFICANCE OF YOGIC PRACTICES FOR ENHANCING IMMUNITY

YOGA FOR HOLISTIC GROWTH OF BODY, MIND AND SOUL
EFFICIENCY IN ACTION IS YOGA (KARMA YOGA) – BHAGWAD GITA

YOGA FOR PEACE OF MIND

The International Day of Yoga is being celebrated annually since 21st June 2015. The purpose of this day is to inculcate physical, mental and spiritual development. Since it is inception, this day has a special significance since many countries celebrate this day by participating in the Yogic exercises.

Yogic practices have special significance since Yoga provides necessary inner strength to fight external infections which impact the body metabolism. The world at large was impacted adversely by Covid-19 pandemic infection. This infection had not only taken human toll but also adversely resulted in economic slowdown.

In the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic, it has been noticed with concern that the decrease in the oxygen level even below 90 has taken many a lives and sudden requirement of oxygen had put our medical system under huge pressure. If we would have enhanced our immunity level by taking proper nutritional value diet, maintained body functionality by proper Yogic exercises, we would have not have suffered so much.

It has been experienced that those who do Yogic exercises regularly remain agile, their oxygen level remains within acceptable level and are less prone to infections. Therefore, the best way to escape from Coronavirus pandemic and other infections or diseases is to have immunity from infections besides it is also essential to observe Covid-19 pandemic norms like putting on face mark, observe social distancing, etc.

We know that Yoga is a gift of our country to the international community. It embodies thought, body, mind and action in order to create harmony between man and nature. In Yogic practice, we adopt scientific approach in order to have sound mind and sound body.

The ancient Rishis believed that our body, mind and the soul have to join together or integrate with the environment in which a person is living. For this to happen meaningfully, it is essential that an individual’s emotions, thinking, actions and intelligence have to be work cohesively in order to realize the purpose of our life.

For integration of the three (body, mind and soul) with environment in which a Yogi is living, various well-coordinated exercises with regular breathing, experienced over a period of time for their applicability; besides meditation are undertaken ultimately for deriving maximum benefits.

For deriving optimum benefit from the Yogic exercises, discipline in the conduct of various Yogic postures, coordination with the various parts of the body especially control of mind and mind cohesiveness is of optimum importance.

The Yogis who are regular in conduct of Yogic postures with focused attention get maximum benefits. Yoga exercises also help a Yogi in focused meditation and other daily functions as a disciplined Yogi and lead a spiritual oriented lifestyle to realize the purpose of life – to establish connectivity with Almighty God.

IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS OF YOGA FOR SOUND BODY

It is understood that our body works as a entire unit, integrating the task of various organs, for carrying out different functions and if it is hale and hearty, possessing energy and synergy, we can transact more functions with our body. For this to happen, we’ve to have balanced diet besides proper exercises or Yoga exercises to keep it healthy. It is also in sync with the saying: sound mind dwells in sound body.

SOUND MIND

We have to control our mind so that the senses (sense of sight, sense of touch, sense of smell, sense of taste and sense of hearing) which it possess coordinate all the functions of our body eloquently and works in accordance with the requirement of a Yogi. Wavering of senses from one object to another just makes our task of focusing more difficult. That is why we have to mind our mind if we want to have complete benefit from Yoga exercises. This is easier said than done since we have to take the assistance of all the organs of our body including internal resolve along with making the environment conducive, so as to make the Yogic exercise a fruitful exercise.

SOUL/SPIRIT

The soul is self which lives in the body and does its functions through it. When there is no soul in our body our body becomes lifeless and becomes a purposeless for any functions. It is just like a rudderless boat floating aimlessly in the vast ocean without destination. Or it is like a bulb without electricity to give energy to give light to us. Hence, we are living, having emotions and perceiving things intelligently or our mind is functional because we’ve got a soul which gives our body life. A soulless body is a lifeless body. When body and mind are in fine fettle then our soul too functions accordingly. It is also well said that our soul or spirit is not apart from the Super Soul (Parm Atama) who is the Creator, evolution/preserver and destroyer for reproduction.

BREATHING EXERCISES

Breathing in O2 (Oxygen) and breathing out CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) is one of the most important requirements of our body and if it is closely well-organized and functions systematically then it proves to be divinely provided sustenance to our body and Yoga bestows us opportunity to enhance breathing methodically which could be proved scientifically. When breathing control is ensured meticulously then we proceed with the next step focused meditation or prayer. While doing so, our mind’s quietness or stillness state is termed as passive activism.

YOGIC EXERCISES & ITS BENEFITS

In Chapter two of Bhagwad Gita, it has been very emphatically mentioned that our responsibility is only to perform our prescribed duty, but we never are entitled to its fruits. It is because our results would be in our favour if there is sincerity in our actions. We should not be motivated by results of our thoughts and actions but we should not be overly attached to the results of our actions. For performing our duty, we should remain balanced minded both in success and failure – no heightened emotions at all. Such a calm temperament and our expertness in performing our task is called YOGA.

Only detached actions (selfless actions) and performing that action with best of our capability will make our pursuit purposeful and meaningful in the long run. We can choose the various duties but it is not in our hands to choose results as we desire. But practically, it has been found that if our pursuit of action is sincere and done with cool temperament then result cannot be disappointing. In this state of mind, even if the results are not good, we shall not be disappointed. The Yogic exercises or Asnas done persistently makes it possible to regulate our breathing thus making it possible to improve the entire metabolic system of our body; in that blood circulation, abdominal organs function perfectly besides keeping all the organs of the body function wonderfully well because every limb of body is benefited with the regulated exercises. When our body is functionally healthy then we can perform various tasks cohesively.

KARMA YOGA – THE YOGA OF ACTION

Karma Yoga is relation to our action that we transact. Before any action is undertaken, it has to be based on some sound thought. The thoughts for action ought to be positive in nature besides being selfless and detachment from the fruits of that action.

VARIOUS TYPES OF YOGA HATHA YOGA (YOGA OF POSTURES)

In this branch of Yoga, the Yogis use physical pose or asana with proper breathing exercises or pranayama and subsequent meditation in a focused manner for ensuring good health besides ensuring our spiritual forward march.
YOGA IS THE UNION OF MOTHER NATURE AND MIND

BHAKTI YOGA (YOGA OF DEVOTION)

Bhakti word originated from Sanskrit word Bhaja meaning to contemplate, pray, love, worship etc. Here a Yoga meditate persistently thus integrates heart and body functions wherein body, mind and soul just combine for integrating with Super Soul. Yoga of Bhakti makes us aware of ONE DIVINE by undivided concentration and thus helps us see ONE DIVINE in everyone and everything. While Karma-yoga becomes Bhakti-yoga, it is done with God consciousness.

RAJA YOGA (YOGA OF SELF-CONTROL)

Raja means associated with royalty. In other words, it is KING OF YOGA. It is based on teachings of the EIGHT LIMBS OF Yoga which is based on YOGA SUTRAS. In this, A Yogi considers self as a central to all and thus considers animate and inanimate the same – no difference in living and non-living things. If you wish to learn discipline, then Raja Yoga would perfectly suit that need.

JNANA YOGA (YOGA OF THE MIND)

Jnana Yoga is related with the mind and therefore its focus is on intelligence of a person. Here Yogis lay more emphasis on wisdom and intellect and try integrate the two so that it works for the self optimally. Also Jnana Yogis are after knowledge, they acquire the knowledge from any source or religions because they work on the principle that knowledge could be gleaned from any sources – religions and philosophies. It is universal in nature. Jnana Yoga proponents are rational in their approach for getting knowledge and thus believe that in order to get connectivity with a SINGLE ONE any path or any religion could be followed. Religion or caste or creed is not limiting factor in acquiring knowledge.

TANTRA YOGA OR YOGA OF RITUALS

Tantra yoga deals with head and heart. While pursuing tantra yoga one has to have the quality of purity of mind, devotion, humility, love etc. Here some rituals are observed for obtaining benefit for the body, mind and spirit.
There are still a lot of misconceptions about yoga, for instance, yoga being a religion. Yoga is not a religion. It is more of a set of techniques for us to find spirituality. In fact, yoga is being practiced by a lot of people from different religions and benefiting from doing this.

Another misconception is that yoga is merely an exercise, a way for us to keep fit. It is partly true, but if you think that yoga is just that then you are greatly mistaken. Yoga develops the body since a weak one is a hindrance to spiritual growth. It does not simply focus on the physical but on the mental and spiritual aspects as well.

BENEFITS OF YOGA

•It ensures the structural balance of our body.

• Regularly performing Yogic exercises can provide us immunity to our body and can keep us resistant against germs and viruses since it brings our body in harmony with Nature. It gives balance of body, mind and soul.

• Yoga enhances our memory since we undertake Yogic exercises with huge concentration.

• Yoga instills discipline in the Yogi.

• Yoga ensures harmoney between man and Mother Nature.

• Yoga is a scientific method which unites soul with the Super Soul (God) – we rise above delusion and reunite with our Creator.

• It enhances our concentration through focus on the omniscient spiritual eye (between the two eyebrows) thereby memory.

• It controls our stress and strain thus we can function perfectly since we learn how to keep our mind under control besides controlling our emotions which keep us adversely affected.

• As in Yoga, we give more credence to ‘self’, we can thereby can attain self realization first and subsequently God-realization.

• Breathing control ensures sound metabolic process of our body thus we have proper circulation of blood besides all the internal organs like heart, liver, lungs including all abdominal organs of our body function in fine fettle because of this regulated breathing and exercises.

• Meditation in rigorous and with focused manner ensures that we move forward spiritually with a view to connect with our Lord/Creator in a disciplined way. It should always be remembered that systematic meditation makes a true Yogi.

• Yoga helps us in facing challenges of life boldly and with equanimity.

• Yoga helps us to imbibe the trait of love and acceptance for everything and everybody.

• Yogic exercises through various postures enhances our self control thus self confidence because of opening the door of intuitive consciousness – sixth sense which makes it possible to anticipate the coming events!

• While highlight is on self (as is done in Raja Yoga), it enhances the Yogi’s self esteem and self control besides enhancing self reliance in everything a Yogi ventures

A GLOWING TRIBUTE TO A FATHER : FATHER’S DAY TODAY

FATHER’S DAY ON 19TH JUNE 2022

A GLOWING TRIBUTE TO A FATHER

TRIBUTE TO A FATHER TO KEEP THE RELATIONSHIP SWEET & LOVELY

FATHER & MOTHER ARE IMPORTANT VEHICLE OF TRANSFORMATION IN THEIR CHILDREN

Father and mother are two important pillars of a family and children need both of them while they grow up. They are considered to be the best medium for bringing about needful transformation in their progenies. That is why it is important that both the spouses create sound ecosystem to change their destinies. In this scheme of things father has special responsibility.

MOTHER PLAYS A STELLAR ROLE

It is a undisputed fact that the relation of parents with their progenies is really very unique. Mother is considered to be the homemaker (Garhini) and her place in running the household in an ordinary manner. This includes taking care of the children, old and infirm including ensuring that the relationship with the close relatives along with distant relatives remains intact. No household can running efficiently and effectively without her deft and elegant handling. Not merely taking care of household chores, now she works for supplementing the income of the family.

A FLOWERY TRIBUTE TO A FATHER

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A FATHER FOR ENSURING EFFECTIE TRANSFORMATION IN CHILDREN

Following are the significant role played by a father in ensuring holistic growth and development in their children:

BESTOWING PROTECTIVE COVER TO THE ENTIRE FAMILY

It is a fact that when the family is internally and externally secure, it can perform its functions as a wellnit unit. The family feels secure and all the members of the household feel protected from any threats emanating from any quarter. With the presence of father, all the members works as a cohesive unit performing different responsibilities without let or hindrance.

ENSURING PROVISION OF FINANCIAL SECURITY FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILTY

Along with security and protection from outside aggressions, it is also the responsibility of a father to provide financial security for the entire family. He has to eke out a sincere living for the entire to his progenies grow to be self-reliant or till the progenies attain financial-independency.

FATHER HELPS IN FAMILARIZATION THEIR CHILDREN THE OUTSIDE WORLD

In the eyes of children, their father presents a clear window of opportunity to showcase them the panorama of world around them. He commands a huge respect in their eyes. He is their protector and security provider, their conscious keeper, their destiny and future depends on him since he never forsakes them in any event. I am of the view that father should also make sincere efforts that faith reposed by the children is not belied in any event.

BESTOWING LOVE AND AFFECTION WITHOUT ANY STRINGS ATTACHED

The father functions as a binding force in a family. He bestows his absolute love and affection to his family including the dependent members while ensuring that nobody is found wanting and neglected in any way.

RESPONSIBILITY OF FATHER TO EXHIBIT LOVE AND RESPECT TO HIS SPOUSE

A responsible father respects his spouse since the children too learn the value system from the family only, therefore, it is the duty of the father to have high opinion of his wife without any reservation. A father who does not bestow due respect  to his wife sets a bad precedence for his progenies.

TEACHING THE IMPORTANCE OF DISCIPLINE

It is in the family itself that a child learns how best to remain in discipline meaning getting up early in the morning, perform all the natural functions in the morning hours, regulating all the functions with punctuality and systematically. In this, father’s plays a key role.

HE IS THE SPARK OF LOVE FOR US

GIVING QUALITY TIME

Although father has to take care of financial security of the family yet it is his duty how best to spare quality time for his children for their holistic growth and development. This is done on a regular basis.

TEACHING THE TRAITS OF TAKING RESPONSIBILITY AND FIX ACCOUNTABILITY

Since the first lesson is taking any responsibility is learned in the family only, it is the responsibility of the father to assign different functions to hid progenies and teach them how best to be accountable for their respective functions. Any deviation should be handled by the father with tact and deftly. This accountability will teach them to remain disciplined not merely in the family but also in life which follows.

INVOLVEMENT IN STUDIES

It is the responsibility of the father that the children study according to the time schedule while checking their performance at every step. As and when a need is felt, father should take corrective steps to remedy or bestow course correction but all this should be done with love without fear or coercion. In this, his wife can also contribute for showing correct path for inculcation study habits in the children.

TEACHING THE CHILDREN TO BE A RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN

It is the responsibility of father to create an appropriate ecosystem in the family to teach their children to take responsibility in variety of functions in various stages of the life of their progenies. It should be kept in mind that a offspring remains a  child for a father even if he/she grows to be young and aspiring professional. For a father, there is always a scope for improvement in a child at any stage of life and the offspring should also have the same sort of feeling. He should not outgrow his boots ever. A child has to grow to be a responsible citizen and not an irresponsible stone thrower and in this father has a special role.

FATHER AND MOTHER ARE THE IMPORTANT PILLARS OF THE FAMILY

It is significant to mention that both father and mother are the important pillars of a family and both of them ensure a conducive environment is created in the family so that the children imbibe sound value system, learn the art of adaptability in any environment, have trait to learn new things along with imbibing all the traits of  good attitude and habit while shunning bad company. In this, both spouses play their stellar role in a most suitable ecosystem.

FATHER:  A SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP

A relationship most reverential
Who comes to the succor of his offspring every time it is needed!
Even surmounting all constraints
Which may come on the path to tide over the situations
In whatever ethical way he can provide support to his children.

With abundance in parental love and affection
A male biological contributor of the infant’s creation
Possessing with it, all legal and social relationships
Besides, male parent carries certain rights and with it huge obligations
Even the step-father or adoptive father too has definite compulsions
To bestow upon the children the right kind of upbringing and value system
Under any circumstances

LOVE TO THE LOVELY RELATIONSHIP TO FATHER

Care the child as his own continually till the children attain their goal
It is a pious duty of a father to render a helping hand to his children
Give the the right dose of upbringing which is hugely required
Including all support system which is needed
For upbringing the offspring in the best possible way wanted
For which paternal and maternal love is paramount
For overall evolution, growth and development of the child
Thus taking care of physical and mental health
So that the child adjusts well in the society in which the child is living
Thus helping the children steering clear
Off the difficult situations which may arise without much warning.

A LOT OF LOVE TO MY FATHER

It is a known fact that fatherly pat quenches
The logical thirst of their children
And the children come to know about the world around
Father’s guidance brings our journey back on track

And save children from going off course
And save them from sure off-the-track passage
Father’s soft touch is as good as the hard one

MEDALS

Since these help the children’s wellbeing in the long run.
.
I had all the attention from my parents
Those years were really very impressionable indeed
When both of them were there with us.

My father, a World War 1st Veteran
Who donned his army uniform
In his lifetime had seen many ups and downs
During his active service tenure in armed forces
He gave credence to the idea of ‘duty first’ above everything else
With utmost dedication and devotion which were the hallmark
The traits of which were transferred onto me in plenty.

LET THE RELATIONSHIP REMAIN LIVELY

My father too faced many a tragedies
Three of his brothers had accidental deaths
But faced every difficulty with resilience and courage
Determined that such tragedies should not distract us
He taught us that fear should not make us weak
But faced with courage and with strong will
He practiced Ayurveda to cure his rural patients as a social service
So that cure could be bestowed to the ones who needed it the most
.

He actively participated in many a social causes
In whatever manner it was possible for him
With the limited resources he had that time
He nurtured us with the best diet he could afford
Inculcated positive outlook on life
And taught us how best to adjust with the time and space
As to how to face challenges
Which may visit without much warning
Infuse positive outlook on life in us
Even at the discouraging irritants
Which may visit us without any prior inklings
He taught us how to face up to any situation
Which he himself followed assiduously till his last day
While on his death bed at the ripe of age of Ninety SEVEN
When I was studying only in class SEVEN
Whilst he anticipated that his end was so near
He called all of us near him with a smile
Gave four gems of advices which we still follow most conscientiously
Never interfere in others’ affairs unreasonably
Never be afraid of life’s challenges which may visit suddenly
Never be reactive to anything that may happen with much warning.

OURFATHER REMOVES IGNORANCE FROM OUR MIDST

And finally always follow the dictum
The winner is the one who follows the Absolute Truth.

Subsequently, he breathed his last
With two tears flowing from his eyes
And God’s names on his tongue
Which I vividly remember even now
That is the true tribute to my father

And may be to every father.

ON CREATION OF HAPPY AMBIANCE IN THE SOCIETY

ON CREATION OF HAPPY AMBIANCE IN THE SOCIETY

Importantly, we all are prisoners of our mind and senses. When we are contented with what we have then we are happy because in that state of our thought, we do not jealousy for others since we do not compare ourselves with others. Whatever we are having through our sincere efforts, we are satiated.

WHILE WE ARE CONTENTED AND HAPPY, WE ARE AT THE PRODUCTIVE AND CREATIVE BEST

RIGHTEOUS ATTITUDE PAY DIVIDENDS

Happiness enhances our creative instinct, we are cheerful, delightful and blissful. In this state of mind, we are at our creative best; write poetry, reflect our thoughts through painting, pen down something unique and would like to be empathetic, humane and meet others needs. In this state of mind, we feel pain while others are around us are pain. With this positive mindset, we are at the productive  best and creative best in everything we put our hands on. While we are happy and contented, we harmonize ourselves by adjusting in whatever environment we are placed.

BAD MOOD LEADS TO APPREHENSION AND DEPRESSIVE FEELINGS

Contrarily, when we are in bad mood or in gloom, everything is at the lowest ebb. Our thoughts are negatively oriented, the things around us seem emitting negative vibes. Nothing seem constructive in outlook, our creative zeal takes a huge drubbing. In depressive state of mind, the negativity like lust, jealousy, anger, egocentric tendencies, bitterness, narrow instincts are deep rooted in our psyche are at their highest pitch. In other words, defeatist tendencies . Even enchanting and constructive approach suggested by our friends and well wishers take back seat and forward looking ideas and ideals are taken as retrogressive and destructive.

DIFFERENCE IN PERCEPTION RESULTS IN WARS AND DISHARMONY

In essence, wars result when negative thoughts prevail. When each of the communities do not see eye to eye with each there is disharmony. When negative thoughts prevail between nations, there is war. Some think if we want to avoid war, we should be prepared for war – as a deterrence. But it is a fact  that if we want to have peace then we should always create situations and conditions to enhance peace and not war. We know the consequences of wars. There is death and destruction. It leads to ill feelings and skepticism between the nations. The nations rather than caring for social upliftment of their populace spend their all types of resources on amassing war materials. There are nations who spend maximum of their resources on  weaponry rather than take care of  educational pursuits of their masses, on indices of social up- gradation such as civic activism, inter-personal safety and trust, creating cohesion in the society, creating condition for gender equality along with adopt inclusive model of growth and development with nil discrimination.

OUR YOUNGER GENERATION SHOULD BE FED WITH POSITIVE THOUGHTS FOR THEIR HOLISTIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

Woefully, it has been observed lately that we are look out for seeking reasons for creating trouble in the society. Even a non-issue could spin out of control when aired with negativism. If we want to be progressive in our outlook, we’ve to endeavor to enthuse our youth to be adaptive to change, become self-aware, be tolerant and shun narrow and parochial approach to any event or incident. Their mind should not be misted-up with pessimistic thoughts which may provoke them to take law in their hands and create mayhem in the society. Rather, we should provide them open forum where they can express their constructive ideas/point of views, patiently listen others  problems and try solving them while expressing their own. Persuasive approach rather than coercive one should be the hallmark. A society which feeds positivism in their youth is a progressive society. While doing so, care should be taken that nothing should be said and done against others religions which may aggravate situation and spin the situation out of control.

AVOID INTIGATION RATHER FOLLOW PERSUASION ROUTE

It should be kept in mind that at the formative years of a person,  a small provocation or instigation to commit anti-social acts may lead to worst consequences for the youth and the society at large. It should also be kept in mind that our youth are the human resource and we have to mold them to be responsible citizens rather than regressive and off-putting or repulsive approach.

OUR YOUTH SHOULD BE SELF-REALZED

We have to make our youth self-realized who knows what are his potentials and what are his weaker areas and knows how best to bridge the gap between what he knows and what he does not. They should know that a person who is self conscious knows what are his needs and those of others. He does not lose his composure at the slightest irritant rather he listens with patience, acts coolly and knows his rights and duties as enshrined in the constitution. We want our youth to be forward looking, progressive in outlook, have zeal and enthusiasm to imbibe positive ideas and above all is not reactive and delusive since delusion is enemy number one of reason. in any situation and condition. In Bhagwad Gita it has been mentioned: delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Reasoning is destroyed when the mind is bewilderdd. One falls down when reasoning is destroyed.

WE SHOULD BE CONSCIOUS OF WHAT WE SAY AND NOT SAY – SHOULD NEVER EXCITE OTHERS SENTIMENTS

We should always be careful while expressing our viewpoints lest it hurts somebody’s sentiments. In other words, we’ve to be responsible for our thoughts and actions since we’ve to face the consequence of our actions. Nobody else should be held responsible for our Karmic deeds in this regard. It should be rooted in ourselves only because from ourselves we’ve to move to God’s connectivity.

INFLUENCE OF NEGATIVE PEOPLE ON US

There are people who do not want to see us happy. They want to see us sad and disheartened. They do not want that we should have our independent thoughts and actions. Divide and rule is their strength. Then they use the strength to exploit the gullible – make us angry, destructive and oppressive. Such people teach the common people to be more aggressive in order to get things done in their favour.

THIS EARTH IS NOT A PERMANENT ABODE FOR ALL OF US

One thing should never be forgotten by us and that is this life of ours is not a permanent. Its impermanency should make us realize that whatever time we live here on this earth, we should be happy, enjoying every moment which we have and also do not make others unhappy with our acts of omissions and commissions. When we are enthused, overflying with energy, we start looking after others around us too.

OUR ULTIMATE GOAL SHOULD BE GOD’S CONNECTIVITY

We should always realize that one of the best thing that will bestow us eternal happiness is God’s connectivity. This connective with our Creator cannot be acquired with somebody else help. The other person can only lead us to some distance but we ourselves have to cover the entire course ourselves to reach the SUPREME  SOUL. Thus create a happy ambiance for himself/herself and the society at large.

ANTI-CHILD LABOUR DAY ON 12TH JUNE 2022

ANTI-CHILD LABOUR DAY

WE HAVE TO BE CAREFUL ABIYT TGE FYTYRE OF OUR CHILDREN AS THEY HAVE TO WITHSTAND EVERY BIT OF LIFE’S CHALLENGES

Anti-Child Labour Day
Is being observed
On 12 June 2022
On this day
We’ve to resolve
Is to take care of those children
Who are not able to care
Their own selves because they are dependent on others
Since they are just like small plants
Which are planted in our garden of our homes
And require regular nourishment
With water, sunshine etc.
And protection from elements
Unfavorable to them.

Seemingly, a peculiar scenario emerges
When our small children are rather employed
At the tea-stalls and shops
And for other sundry jobs
Or we find them hawking
Selling veggies
To supplement the income
Of their households
While they should be in the schools
Through schooling
They can learn the knowledge of Three Rs
Reading, writing and arithmetics
So that when the child grows up
To be a responsible citizen
And even takes care of the children
Who are left in the care of elements around.

The persons with resources
Should make sincere efforts
To pool in their resources
To provide succor to those NGOs or children-homes
Who take care of the impoverished ones
Along with punishing
Those who transgress the laws
Relating to child protection
While providing them the basic needs
Through proper care, protection
Adopting a child-friendly approach
Where protection of child related cases
Seem to exist.

Our children are our future hopes
Not that we give birth and throw them
To face the elements of nature themselves
We’ve some responsibility towards them
Prioritize their educational pursuits
Provide them proper diet
So that they’ve good health
For sound health
We’ve to provide them proper medi-care
It is our responsibility
To treat every child with empathy
And respect which he/she deserves
Irrespective of their caste, race or colour or gender

Help mitigate the risks
These hapless and helpless face
By strengthening social protection systems
While combating all types of violence
Forced child labour.

Along with domestic violence
Child abuse
And sexual exploitation
Cyberbullying – online and offline
While bridging the digital divide
Which stares us at our faces.

Access to education to the girl-child is a must
And protect them for gender-based violence
Which is rampant presently
And narrow the gap of their vulnerability
Whose parents are no longer there
Since they are snatched by the recent Covid pandemic
Or any other natural disasters

Or died during the wars
Like the current one between Russia & Ukraine
Which have made many children orphans
To render a helping hand
To such hapless ones is our responsibility
Lest these orphans are thrown to face the elements
And marauders
Who least care for others plight.

If we want a safe and sustainable place
For our children
It is necessary that we secure their health and wellness
Stop abuse
And ensure sustainable growth and development.

We should work in unison
To address global challenges
Of child abuse and ensure
That anti-child labour laws are enforced
With iron hand
To give our children the right environs
So that they become good future citizens.

ANTI-CHILD LABOUR DAY

On 12th June 22 is the anti-child Labour Day. It is the day when  we resolve not to employ children below the age of 14 years in jobs which are hazardous in nature such as in mines, brick-kilns and menial work requiring consumption of energy.

OUR CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE BETTER ECOSYSTEM

We’ve laws relating to anti-child labour but need is to enforce these laws meaningfully so that nobody takes advantage of the innocence and gullibility of the small kids and exploit the kids after employing them. Therefore, need is to bestow them right environment and protection to these hapless lots.

The Act 61 (Prohibition and Regulation Act 1986) prohibits the employment of children from working from 7 PM till 8 AM and not more than six hours working hours in a day including one day’s off in a week. Also, children should not be employed in hazardous working environs such as mines and factories deemed risky in nature including requiring hard menial work.

OUR SMALL KIDS ARE OUR FUTURE CITIZENS

We should not forget that our children are the future of our country. They, after their due education and training have to take the gauntlet and shoulder the responsibilities of protecting the borders from the invading outside people inimical to our interests. Therefore, need is to bestow them protection and provide them necessary education for their holistic growth and development.

ENSURING SOUND HEALTH AND WELLNESS

OUR CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE RIGHT ENVIRONS

In this proper diet, exercise and provision of proper shelter for those who have lost both their parents in the natural disasters or due to Coronavirus pandemic or due to ongoing wars such as Russian and Ukarainian which has resulted in deaths and destruction. Need for protection of the hapless children is a most needed requirement.

PROTECTION OF GIRL CHILD

In essence, we need to be very careful that girl child is given right education and ensure that girls are not be abused and exploited in any way. It should never be forgotten that teaching a girl means teaching an entire family since the same girl has to manage the affairs of the entire family therefore their education and taking care of their wellness is a must for any forward looking  society.

BETTER ECOSYSTEM WITH TEACHING OF VALUE SYSTEM

Along with their educational pursuits, the children should be taught value system; how best to adopt positive thoughts, act with humility, adoption of simplicity with high quality thinking, shunning egocentric tendencies etc. They should also be taught how face the challenges which the life throws at us including respecting others privacy. Right education and right attitude inculcation will change their future outlook to be a better future citizens and for this to be possible appropriate ecosystem and sound environment in which they exist is a must.

OUR CHILDREN ARE THE SUNSHINE OF OUR LIFE

WORLD ENIRONMENTAL DAY: 5TH JUNE 2022

WORLD ENIRONMENTAL DAY: 5TH JUNE 2022

WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY

In essence, Mother Nature by itself is chaste
Spotless and beatific in every way
But we humans spoil its purity
By our own unethical activities so very strange indeed
By not following the Laws of Nature.

The surrounding in which we live
In the atmosphere in which we exist
And subsist
The way we live
Our life at our homes
At our work places
All depends on the awareness
About how best to keep going
By refining the surrounding
We live and survive for our living
Despite some manmade impediments
In the form of water pollution
Air pollution
Noise pollution
Adversely not merely humanity
But also plants, birds and marine ecosystem

We’re constrained to keep our environment clean
Atmosphere and surrounding in which we exist
Spoiling the surroundings means
Spoiling our chances of living in clean ambiance
It happens when our greed takes precedence.

The environment includes all living beings
And the things which naturally exists
Not produced artificially with hands of humans
But originated by nature and natural phenomena
Inclusive of all eco-system naturally functioning
Along with micro-organisms, land and what it has on its bosom
Our environment is obviously boundless
It constitute all living beings and others things – just seamless
Along with natural resources contained
Inside the crust of land and over-ground
Resources like water, air, sun energy, weather, magnetism & electric current
Then natural energy like radiation
Electric current, eddy current and what not
Thus everything which has been created by Mother Nature
And maintained and run under the Natural Laws
We, as humans should perfect the art of preservation
Of Nature and what it contains
Otherwise the Nature will bring about
Ssevere retribution onto the humans.

When our mind gets polluted
We pollute the mother nature
By our own acts of omissions and commissions
Of exploiting the environment
To meet our own selfish ends
By doing so, we spoil its balance
Which impacts our existence
Thus environment degradation
Degrades our own self more than usual
Thus, we should try to learn how best to live naturally
In sync with natural laws.

Then we’ve another aspect of pollution
And that is noise pollution
Which is created by excessive noise
In the form of high-pitched sound
Of loudspeaker, motor vehicles
Crackers and other noise creating pollutants
Which adversely affects environment
Thus impacting the lives humans.

CLEAN ENVIRONMENT IS SUITABLE FOR HUMANITY

WORLD ENIRONMENTAL DAY: 5TH JUNE 2022

Essentially, environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June which helps us to remind us how best we should protect our environment from being polluted. The first environment day was held in 1974 to raise the environment issues confronting the mankind. This day has special significance since the world at large is experiencing extreme adversity related to health related and economic stringencies issues owing to various viruses.

AWARENESS ABOUT PROTECTION OF ENVIRONMENT

In order to inculcate awareness on protection of environment, it is necessary that all of us; individually and collectively make sincere effort in whatever way we can to contribute our mite in keeping the environment clean and  protect it from pollutants which presently  have multiplied manifold due to harmful viruses, germ and  microorganisms which are adversely impacting the environment thus impacting the health and wellness of humanity.

It is pertinent to mention here that due to pollution created by current war between Russia and Ukraine in which there is deaths and destruction owing to missiles and bomb attacks. Not merely air pollution is being created but also atmospheric temperature is being impacted. This also includes various testing of nuclear weapons and other dangerous bombs by different countries. In all this, impact on the humans, environment, sea eco-system, atmosphere, etc.

PLEDGE TO KEEEP OUR SURROUNDINGS

On this day, we take pledge in keeping the environment neat and clean, wherein Sawachchta is the main thrust of the proponents. If environment is kept neat and tidy, it will keep us away from germs and viruses which presently is infested with viruses (such as Covid—19 pandemic) which are mutating without any warning. Covid-19 virus has adversely impacted the lives globally.

POLLUTED MIND

In Bhagwad Gita Dhanushdhari Arjuna question Lord Krishna: The mind is very fickle indeed O Krishna, turbulent, strong and obstinate. I think it is as impossible to control the mind as the wind.”

To which Lord Krishna replies:

It is very difficult to control the ever moving mind. However, O son of Kunti, through sincere practice and dispassionate detachment (vairagya), it can be achieved.

CLEAB ENVIRONMENT IS SUITABLE FOR ALL LIVINGBEGINS

It is in the fitness of things to understand that there are some ill-conceived notions, unethical thoughts, immoral and Karmic deeds which pollute our mind. These negatively oriented are kama (lust) or uncontrolled passion. Further, when the person concerned is not able to satisfy his lust, he feels anger taking over. Alternatively, if his passion is satiated, then that person is lured into more greed. This does not stop here, he is under the spell of egocentric tendencies. Further, when that person observes something more alluring and tempting, he feels still greedier and there arises competition for more. If this happens, then it will not only impact our intellect and wisdom. The ultimate result is mind pollution or mind contamination.

There are occasions when our mind or psyche gets adversely affected by the outer negative influences. Need is to let love and understanding flow freely thus creating an atmosphere of amity in all walks of our lives; in our homes, neighbourhood, communities etc. The egocentric tendencies pollute the mind and result in violence, insensibilities, insincerity in action, greed, rancor, being judgmental about any matter etc. These negative oriented traits have to be removed and goodwill and wellness to prevail for enhancing the creative zeal to fructify.

A person with pure mind will have purity in thoughts and action, feels no fear of anything, feels confident that there is no enemy who can harm him, would be inclined towards charity to satisfy others’ needs, there would be prevalence of goodwill, a feeling of getting things with positive attitude; when somebody commits some mistake, we shall be forgiving and be forgetting and proceed on, we shall be humble in our dealings with others. Such people, with purity of mind, are rare humans who live their lives in spirituality orientation and are very dear to our Creator.

The crucial need is to keep away from all the negativities (Lust, anger, greed and jealousy, covetousness, rancor etc) by reining in our mind and senses by pure reason and rationality. If this happens, then there would be satiety, peace, and tranquility.

EFFUSIONOF POISONOUS AIR IS BAD FOR ALL

RESTORATION OF ECO-SYSTEM

In order to realize the aim of restoration of ecosystem, we should make it a social drive to plant more trees. This is not merely planting tree now and forgetting to maintain their growth. Our effort should be to ensure proper protection from storms and other elements – man made and natural ones.

HOLISTIC SANITATION

It is not merely keeping our environment neat and clean but also cleanse our mind individually and collectively. By sanitization ourselves individually, we mean cleansing our mind off impurities dormant in us and spread it to outside our homes. We succeed when all of us realize that it is our prime responsibility to ensure holistic sanitation.

The environment is being adversely impacted by the following factors: –

  1. Environmental pollution.
  2. Water pollution.
  3. Air pollution.
  4. Water pollution – water bodies including sea.
  5. Mental pollution.

POLLUTION OF ENVIRONMENT

When we talk about pollution, it means contamination of air, water, and sound pollution. How it is affecting our lives and the lives of all the living beings is known? The lives of general masses get affected by smog, the mixture of smoke and water droplets suspended in the air or fog. Smoke in the environment makes the fog harmful. Quality of air gets contaminated by the combination of poisonous gases, smoke and water vapors. It has the pungent smell and affects eyes and vision too besides other respiratory related diseases.

AIR  POLLUTION

Evidently, air gets polluted basically due to smoke, poisonous gases coming out of the chimneys of industries and even from burning of coal, wood, vehicles and more so, particularly in capital Delhi wherein the pollution situation got accentuated due to burning of left-out stubs of rice crops including burning of other polluting agents by the farmers.

The smog, so created, was so severe and damaging that the Government had to take some urgent preventive measures to dissuade the farmers not to burn the left out of the crops, after Court’s strictures. Apex Court too intervened for not to burst crackers on Diwali festival. Bursting of crackers was there but in moderation thus limiting its effect. Last time, when the pollution was at its highest, the Government also ordered odd and even policy to regulate the plying of vehicles on the road thus helping to reduce the quantity of smoke.

The environment in which we live consists of four major elements, land, water, air and living organism; such as plants, birds, and animals. It is the misfortune that we humans have shown gross disrespect for the very environment which sustains us. Industrialization, deforestation, and overpopulation have polluted the environment to such an extent that there is already a doubt if life on this planet will survive for long. The increase in earth’s temperature due to greenhouse gases coming out of the burning of coal and fuels will also be hazardous for the inhabitants of this earth.

AIR POLLUTION AND ITS ADVERSE AFFECTS

Who is responsible for air pollution? Actually, we, all the population are responsible. There is not even an iota of doubt on this score.  While walking on the evening walk, I saw a shopkeeper burning the coal from which a huge plume of smoke was emanating, then still ahead, a diesel operated generator was on, this too was spewing the huge amount of smoke. I asked the shop owners whether he knew that he was polluting the air by burning the coal or by operating the diesel generating set. The hypocrisy of theirs was laced with hideous counter question. Is all this pollution in the city due to the burning of coal or by operating diesel generating set?

If we want pollution to be controlled, all have to genuinely contribute and first and foremost is me. If I set an example, everybody else will follow suit and make the dream of keeping our cities pollution free.

ADVERSE EFFECTS OF AIR POLLUTION

If the quality of air is poor, it causes all sorts of breath related diseases like weakness of lungs due to inhaling of poor quality of air, respiratory problems, pneumonia due to infection of lungs, bronchitis (inflammation and swelling of passage from nose, to air passage to lungs, birth defects,

WATER POLLUTION AND ITS ADVERSE EFFECTS

As far as water pollution is concerned, we cannot hold others responsible. By our acts of omissions and commissions, we are throwing the dirt from our homes and also the pollutants or industrial wastes to rivers and other water-bodies thus polluting these. We know how the big rivers like the Ganges and the Yamuna including all other small rivers are being polluted by the affluent especially from leather-based industries and other waste products from other industries which are located near these rivers.

The government has allocated several crores of rupees for cleaning Ganges and Yamuna but till such time all the inhabitants living on the banks of these rivers realize the importance of pollution-free Ganges and Yamuna besides other rivers along with all other water-bodies nothing concrete can happen. The cleaning and pollution-free rivers, lakes, ponds, tanks etc will remain a distant dream until such time we all know how much the polluted water can adversely impact our daily lives. We all are aware about the danger of polluted water of rivers flowing into the seas thus polluting the sea water too.

Then there is the problem of actions of some people throwing plastic items and mineral oil into the sea thus adversely impacting the marine lives there. It should be our responsibility not to throw used plastic items into the water bodies and seas.

ILL-EFFECTS

The dirty water containing all sorts of pollutants such as lead, bacteria, wastes from leather industries, waste products from food processing industries, insecticides, and herbicides which could adversely affect the quality of water if not properly treated before falling into the river, it could have the harmful effect on the living beings.

With the consumption of polluted water; diseases like dysentery, typhoid, cholera, diarrhea, vomiting, liver infections, adversely affecting the immunity, malaria etc. will result.

NOISE POLLUTION

Too much of noise created by the blaring of loudspeakers and blaring horns in a populated area could prove to be dangerous for the residents; especial the old, infirm and children.

ADVERSE EFFECTS

Too much of exposure to noise pollution could create the impairment of hearing, lack of focus in studies, fatigue, abortion, anxiety, blood pressure etc.

SOIL POLLUTION

When the soil is excessively exposed to chemicals such as lead, benzene, pesticide, herbicides (chemicals used for killing the unwanted plants)  and other pollutants, it causes soil pollution.

ADVERSE EFFECTS

Exposing our fields to more pesticides and other chemicals could prove to be counterproductive. Kidney and liver diseases, cancer, brain and nerve damage due to infectious ridden pollutants.

Conclusively, it could rightly be said that a person with polluted mind flourishes in the atmosphere of negativity. He creates situations and conditions which may pollute the environment in which he lives. Until such time such negative tendency is obliterated, we cannot expect much. Need is to turn his negativity into positivity.  How best we succeed in our endeavor, depends upon our resolve and positive attitude coupled with our belief in Almighty God.

When the mind is contaminated with pollutants of negative thoughts like anger, lust, greed, and jealousy etc. then we cannot ensure our environment too pollution free because nothing can be expected from a person with the dirty/polluted mind. Such person thrives on negativity not only in his traits but also the environment around him would be teeming with dirt, filth, and pollutant.  Such people, for aggrandizing their desires, can go to any limits even killing their own parents for getting riches.

A man with polluted mind has the following negative traits:-

A polluted mind is a mind full of egotistic tendencies.

  • A polluted mind believes in violence to get things done.
  • A polluted mind is insincere and insensitive.
  • A polluted mind is rigid in his views and does not respect tolerate others’ opinion.
  • A polluted mind is a power hungry and to get this power such people can adopt any measures to get these.
  • A polluted mind is inimical to the country he lives.
  • A polluted mind cannot be trusted as he is attached to worldly possessions.
  • A polluted mind is restless in his disposition.

HOW BEST TO TAKE CARE OF ENVIRONMENT

  • By keeping the surrounding neat and clean so as to keep ourselves free from harmful germs and viruses such as Coronavirus pandemic which is haunting globally.
  • We should plant more trees so as to get pure air as the tree take in Carbon Dioxide during the day time and emit Oxygen. In other words, trees act as the purifier agent. And there are trees such as Peepal trees which give out Oxygen day and night and take in Carbon Dioxide.
  • Excessive effusion of smoke in the atmosphere which is creating excess temperature in the environment due to which the Antarctic ice-cover is melting including creation of glaciers increasing the level of oceans due to increase in temperature.
  • We should not pollute the water bodies including sea water by throwing plastic items and mineral oil which adversely affects the marine life adversely. We are aware about the huge leakage of oils in the sea from the big containers kept in large ships.
  • Our greed for exploitation the natural bounties; inside and outside the earth crust presents a critical situation and imbalances the natural balance which comes in the form of tsunamis, cyclones, storms, earthquakes and what not.

GURU ARJAN DE JI’S MARTYRDOM DAY (SHAHEEDI DIVAS)

Guru Arjan Dev Ji was born in Goindval Sahib, Tarn Taran (Punjb). He is fifth Guru known for this sagacity and wisdom. His maternal grandfatherr Guru Amardas (Third Guru) and father Guru Ramdas (Fourth Guru) are also known for their love and wee instrumental in helping the masses.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s is somberly remembered as the Martyrdom Day (Shaheedi Divas) and occurs on 14th June. This supreme sacrifice was due to his expansive influence on the general masses among other reasons which was not taken kindly by Emperor.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji is the fifth Guru of Sikhs. In fact, the first of the two Gurus martyred. He was captured by Mughal  Emperior Jahangir in 1608 in Larhore in put in the prison for his influence amongst the masses. It is a well known fact that Guru Arjan Dev Ji blessed his rebellious son named Khusrau due to which Jahangir ordered his execution.

The execution was really heartrending since he was made to sit on burning hot sheet-plalte besides hot sand was poured on to him too. Such a heartless act! He was subjected to three days’ of extreme torture and subsequently taken for a bath in the river. He entered the river but was never seen thereafter.

He was instrumental in prepaing the map and also laid the foundation of Golden Temple besides helping in its construtruction in Amritsar.

Guru Ji is known for his wisdom and intellect of highest order. He compiled Adi Granth, a treasure trove of literary work in spiritual poetry and musical ragas (The religious scripture of the Sikhs). Adi Granth was installed in Hamandir Sahib. This sacred scripture was afterwards  changed to  Guru Granth Sahib.

The Shaheedi Divas of Guru Arjan Dev Ji is remembered annually in order to keep in mind the supreme sacrifice for the masses who revered him immensely.

Lessons from Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s Shaheedi Divas and his principles he held dear:

  • Understand your people and standby them in thick and thin. When we do such things then people remember us for our noble causes thus creating a space in the hearts of the general masses. This is more relevant now because of Covid19 pandemic  than ever.
  • It is though sacrifices for good causes with which you can be known.
  • Stand firm in your conviction and principles even in the face of sure death.
  • A personage who contributes for the society in general is on of the most precious gifts of Akalpurakh and codifies his place in the annals of history.
  • We are known for the worthwhile contribution to the society in general and not for the years we have lived on this earth.
  • The ones who suffer for general masses are not only dear to the people but also to the Omnipotent and Omniscient God.
  • The example set by Gurru Ji will remain reminding us that Supreme Sacrifice for good causes immortalize us.
  • Our creative work of highest order will be remembered by the society in general and will earn us pride of a place for us.
  • Our impermanent body will have to perish one day but our soul and good Karmic Deeds remain permanent in the psyche of the people and they remain remembering the same with utmost reverence.
