In order to pay true reverence to the Guru Ji, a great warrior and a great spiritual leader. Many programmes such as langars, prayers (Ardaas) along with congregations are held highlighting the legendary Guru Ji.
SIGNIFICANCE OF TEACHINGS OF GURU GOIND SINGH JI
Today is Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti. This day is being observed in the honour to remember the great warrior, philosopher, poet and spiritual master of immense repute. He was born on Paush Shukla Saptami.
Guru Gobind Singh teachings include oneness of God and stress on the brotherhood and sisterhood of all without any difference of caste, creed, nationality and gender. He is known for his wisdom and compassion for all without any bias.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji opposed Mughal rule in India because of their tyrannical rule which goes to show that he fought evil in order to bring about camaraderie between communities. He was not only a most courageous and valia
nt warrior but also renowned for his nobility and empathy for the masses which is treasured with immense reverence.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji was immeasurably spiritually oriented Guru who enlightened the general masses with his teachings. He immeasurably valued peace and harmony between all the humankind.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji is the true messenger of God Sent to this beautiful earth To destroy/uproot sin and evil in its various forms and manifestations Thereby to establish The righteousness Along with uprightness So that the evil doers Be thrown out and meet their ends Off their roots. Guru Ji opined Among other things’ That peace, ever lasting one Could only be attained and ensured Whence we eradicate Selfishness and self-centeredness From within us in all forms and manifestations. It should never be forgotten The revered Guru Ji professed ‘I’ll tell the truth, Listen everyone Those who loved all without bias Will be able realize the Lord’. The revered one proclaimed Those who follow righteous path Of Truth In their thoughts And actions thereof Are graced with His mercy Along with His compassion, aplenty.
He preached The importance of self And further said That those who do not have faith in self Cannot have faith in Almighty God. The one who is filled with egotistic tendencies Is always confronted with all sorts of fears Since ego defile our life. He opined that our Lord Is the One Who reveals us The true Path Since He is the Doer of all deeds indeed. Whence we meet the True God We say good bye to hunger Since hungr does not depart By wearing the robes of a beggar. Guru Ji opined very evidently That he falls at the feet Of those who meditate On the Truest of the True The Absolute One. He opined very visibly Blessed is the True Guru Who gave the supreme gift Of the Name of the Akalpurakh.
Our revered Guru Ji advised Not to recklessly shed the blood With the sword The result of sword wielding may boomrang The same sword may fall upon The neck of the sword holder!
He proclaimed with utmost respect One one who loves God Through the medium of Guru’s Word Forget all their pain and suffering.
He opined those who trust God With a sincere oath on God Such a person’s protection Is ensured By the God Himself Since the God Himself Shows the Path.
He very respectfully considered that God has helped Him cure the disease of egotism Which he considered ego as the fatal one.
He lauded the virtues of the Guru Who helps remove evil from within And replace it with righteous existence.
SHAHEEDI DIVAS OF YOUNGER SONS OF GURUGOBIND SINGH JI
We commemorated the sacrifices Of younger sons; Sahibzaadas Of Guru Gobind Singh Ji On 26th December 2022 The most courageous & bravest ones Sahibzaada Zorawar Singh Ji And Sahibzaada Fateh Singh Ji Who were bricked alive In the wall by the Mughals in the year 1705 Alas! At the younger age of 9 and 7 years only Along with two elder brothers Who were executed by the heartless tyrants The supreme sacrifices of the Sahibzaaas Would remain etched in the annals of history In order to mark the resilience and bravery Of the valiant and most courageous Sahibzaadas.
Further, we should delve on the supreme sacrifices The younger sons of GURU GOBIND SINGH JI Attained supreme sacrifice On 26th December 1704 At the very tender age of seven & eight Known as Saka Sirhind Or Sahibza Saka For this Shaheedi Jor Mela Also known as Dhaheedi Jor Mel or Jor Sabha is organized at Fatehgarh Sahib In order to memorialize the sacrifices so supreme At the place of their martyrdom.
Some very unfortunate events happened The most revered mother of Mata Gujri Ji Of Guru Gobind Singh ji Along with the two younger sons The most valiant ones Sahibzaada Fateh Singh & Sahibzaada Zorawar Singh Were evicted from Anandpur Sahib Thence the most innocents once were arrested at Morinda Subsequently hearing took place at Sirhind Court.
In the court hearings Nawab Sher Muhammad Khan defended The two Sahibzaadas Against injustice committed By Sooba Sirhind Nawab Nawab Wajir Khan The Qazis including other officials of court Declared innocence of Sahibzadas Diwan Sucha Nand supported prosecution Then they were found guilty of ideological rebellions To Mughal Empire and religion Thence punishment was affixed an pronounced The three were imprisoned At an Open Tower Named Thanda Burj And then unfortunately Alas! both the Sahibzadas Were bricked alive! Subsequently when the wall fell to the ground Due to which both the Sahabzadas Fell unconscious to the ground The cruel ones slit the throat of the valiant ones Mata Gujri Ji too mixes with the Akalpurakh The same day After the supreme sacrifices of Sahibzaadas
This year the supreme sacrifices Of the most bravest and courageous ones Which the humanity cannot forget ever The supreme shahadats And would remain commemorating ever till human being remain on this Mother Earth.

First of all, my special prayers to our Lord, for keeping the humanity protected from the Coronavirus pandemic which is again raising its head again. Presently, it is China, it may spread to other countries too by the same or different fierceness. But it remains. Lord You have the power to rid the humanity off this virus as You have done before too, my solemn pray to You is to keep the humanity immune from the Covid pandemic. Not this again, Lord not this again!
Lord Jesus Christ, the most benevolent One bestow sanity to the warring countries who are fighting with each other and creating deaths and destructions. The continuing war between Russia and Ukraine is case in point. Elsewhere too, violence continues. My sincere prayers to Thee O Lord for bestowing good sense to the warring countries so that unnecessary deaths and destructions could be stopped for good. Let the Lord’s love prevail globally. Even a single life is most precious gift of our Creator, therefore, I pray that violence on each other should stop and there may be prevalence of peaceful coexistence around the world. The revered God’s Son Worked tirelessly in the hot Sun! Thence as he cometh From the waters of Jordan A voice so stimulating, Cometh from Heaven ‘This is my beloved Son In whom I am very pleased’ Thereafter Jesus went to the backwoods Surprise of surprises of all! To allow Satan to temp Him To break the back of Satan. He fasted for days forty, And vanquished the Satan With eternal will of God in the heaven Then brimming with the Holy Sprit He lived with the commoners For three long years. John recorded Jesus as the Son of God Who raised even the dead to live again Made the blinds to see again Lames to walk again Demons not to appear again Came to the succor of heartbroken. During mighty storms, so severe With a few loaves and fish Made food sufficient for five thousands! Believe – we have to, as it really happened! Since He is sent by our dearest God As a Saviour As His Incarnate, The All Knowing The All Powerful Being. Then on a Thursday Night, He meets his followers In the city of Jerusalem On an occasion so solemn He announced It is ordained that He may die For those He loved so dearly And told them to remember his association with them And also promised to come back For their sake! He spent time in the garden of Gethsemane Prayed to the Divine Providence. No case was found against Jesus By those who tried Him for his faults so superficial Even then he was crucified on Friday He departed this life For He loved us all After when He was dead, His power was proclaimed By the happenings most unexplained. On the morn of Sunday He rose from the dead Appeared to Mary And apostles and a huge gathering, He gave the message of love Goes to prove without doubt He remains invincible in both the states.

SIGNIFICANCE OF CHRIST CONSCIOUSNESS MAY THE LOVE AND LIGHT PREVAIL FOR EVER IN US HUMANS
When we are determined to perform something for others without any selfish motive, it means we have reached to the realm of Christ Consciousness. When we perform our duties towards our family, it means we are performing our duty towards our close relatives which anyhow is our responsibility and cannot shun that in any case. But when we enhance our outreach to our neighbors and share their pains and sufferings then it means we are realizing the importance of Christ Consciousness. Subsequently, if it goes beyond neighbourhood to society and even in wider sphere then we are totally immersed in this noble cause.
Essentially, when we do think and act logically and are having the same noble idea for others then we are in that realm. This is possible if we expand our consciousness by being empathetic to all; with whom we are having relationship or do not have such relations. Both of these people should be dear to us. This expanded consciousness expands ourselves to higher horizons. Jesus Christ did not differentiate between his relatives and others. All in all He eyed everybody – differentiating nobody based on any consideration.
While we are having compassion for others, it means, we are beginning to expand our consciousness. Jesus Christ’s assertion: ‘Bless them that curse you’ stands good in this scheme of things. He even had good words for those who stood against Him. He said: Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. God forgives our faults, then, why we cannot have sympathy and cultivate helping nature for our brethren? Having done that, we can expand our consciousness to sub-consciousness and super-consciousness through our positive thoughts and actions and even manifest to Divine Consciousness. This state could be achieved by knowing the importance of Christ Consciousness.
Jesus Christ was the one who had won victory against material consciousness. He exists in the hearts and minds of His followers. He said, ‘I do nothing for myself, but as my Father hath taught me.’ Christians including numberless others who have resolute belief in His preaching shun delusions and follow His ideals. His presence is felt through his teachings. Those who have self realization or are self realization know that in every speck of cosmos Christ Consciousness exists but only those who have vision can experience this. Christ Consciousness is a part of Cosmic Consciousness and it should never be lost sight of by us humans. It is all inclusive.
JESUS CHRIST’S TEACHINGS
His teachings are universal in nature and are more relevant now than ever since our world is in dire need of harmoney and prosperity to go hand in hand. There is a definitive imprint of His teachings on the psyche of people and that is why His influence remains centuries after centuries. Those sincere devotees who have attained certain level of spirituality can see the Divine Vision after their consciousness is more awakened.
His teachings are very exhaustive, if we care to follow the ones mentioned below, we can make our life more purposeful with love suffusing for our brethren:-
(a) We should never forget that God loves us immensely and we should always love our fellow beings. What is the meaning of word God – God is love?
(b) Changing ourselves by adopting righteousness approach. Developing the traits of soul consciousness through meditation.
(c) All can learn to love God through the medium of our thoughts, deeds and other mediums.
(d) We can connect with God through the medium of love.
(e) Love is an emotion, a selfless feelings for others and totally dedicate yourself, your thoughts and actions to the object of your love.
(f) All should learn to love others and subsequently direct their love to God. To develop love is very essential for spiritual upward journey.
(g)Those who are having the love of God for all can comprehend the meaning of their lives and also the true meaning of God. Life bereft of love all the knowledge has no meaning at all.
(h) We have to live according to His wishes through self-sacrificing, empathy and selfless attitude.
(i) Divine Fire is the creative power of God and an individual should aspire for this Divine Spark.
(j) Jesus Christ preached the importance of having compassion for our fellow beings. He taught that kindhearted feeling should always be there even for all including our enemies.
May His teachings/messages, which are eternal indeed, remain etched in our memories and guide us to lead our lives with a lot of love, empathy and selflessness.
In essence, when transacting our multifarious functions, we come across people of different temperaments. There are the people who are very suave, well-behaved, balanced-demeanor, tolerant, empathetic, compassionate and all the positive traits put together. Contrarily, there are people who are possessing all the negative traits such as arrogance, ruddiness, haughtiness, fastidiousness, ill-conceived demeanor, intolerance, narrow-minded, egocentric tendencies, etc. All these are mistaken lines of thoughts and in sync with the phrase: barking up the wrong tree. You can neither convince them to toe your positive thoughts but also cannot convince them to desist from following false pride.
Importantly, for negative oriented thought percepts, nothing matters for them except their way of thinking and acting. False pride and exaggerated sense of importance is their forte. They may not realize initially but it is a wrong line of thought. Such people do not know that they are traversing to the five gates of hell such as anger, lust, ego, greed and jealousy. In Bhagwat Gita Lord Krishna instructs Arjuna: With the growth of the body, the living entity, in order to vanquish his soul, increases his false prestige and anger and thereby creates enmity towards similarly lusty people.
CAN WE AVOID ARRANGANT PERSONS ALWAYS? NO WAY, WE CANNOT.
Essentially, if you think that you can avoid such negative oriented people as a way out, then question arises how long we can avoid these them when they are part and parcel of your lives? Such people are in your homes, organizations in which you are working, living in the same society where you always meet and interact. No way, you cannot avoid them. Then what is the option for us? Is dodging possible if such a person meets you in the corridor of common office or his seat is near yours in the office, or he is in our own home? No way, such people cannot be avoided although they annoy you enormously. The best way is to face them, listen them what they want to say. Sure enough, their conversation will not be of your liking but you cannot do anything about it. to make them understand your point of view, the situation may get worsened just proving the phrase: to add insult to the injury.
The arrogant or conceited people are ego-centric to the core. They form an opinion and stick to that opinion come what may. They are not flexible in their approach. They opine that their will should run supreme, despite of any consequences.
NEGATIVELY ORIENTED LOTS ARE INDECISIVE
It has also been observed that such people are indecisive too – saying one thing and then refusing to toe the line or lying through their teeth. If I happen to be in company of such people,. I shall pay him due respect as a colleague or a boss, perform my functions to the best of my ability with a notion that ‘this will also pass’. We should endeavor to improve ourselves to change according to the situations and conditions. Adapting to change will always enhance our awareness. With my experience in public life, I have learnt more from the people who criticize me rather than the ones who appreciated my work-ethic. Therefore, criticism should be taken with a pinch of salt and try improving ourselves. Everyday should be a learning experience for us.
ADAPTIVE TO THE CHANGE
Try to agree to disagree sometimes on the contentious points when you do not see eye to eye with a person to whom you consider him arrogant or rude. Many blushes could be saved when we try to adopt an attitude of adaptability; yes even with a brute of a person!
PAYING IN THE SAME COIN IS NOT A BETTER OPTION
Ultimately! ff still the fellow concerned is behaving woefully negative then what option you have at the time and space with you, you are free to exercise the best option open under the circumstances. But one thing should always be kept in mind that you should not go off the tangent and showcase an arrogant and rudeness to an already arrogant person – a mentally sick person. Seemingly, you should be tolerant to such a person. He has to be pitied and not paid in the same coin. Paying in the same coin may give you some satisfaction but eventually what you have gained out of ‘paying in the same coin’. Nothing at all! We must have observed the impression on the face of a person with who you are talking rude. He too would like to behave in the similar manner. Meaning what you give others, you get the same in return. No goodwill, no friendliness, no camaraderie, no amity! Therefore, silence should be our prime trait in such a situation.
TOLERANCE IS THE BEST ALTERNATIVE
Tolerance is a great virtue, it is difficult to imbibe but when it is a made a habit, it will never fail us. In Bible it has been mentioned: I will share God’s gentleness and respect, it is linked with love.
While advising Arjuna for performing his duty as a Dhanushdhari, Lord Krishan says: The significance of tolerance is akin to happiness and distress. These appear and disappear like winter and summer seasons. These arise due to our sense of perception. All of us must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed. By so doing, we can be in total peace with ourselves. This feeling could be generated while working in any situation and condition – adverse or appropriate.
HOW BEST THE ARROGANCE OR CONCEITEDNESS COULD BE CURBED
A person with arrogance and conceitedness could rid these negative orientation by following spiritual way of living. It should be kept in mind that every individual has accumulated various reactions which are good and not so good. It goes to show that a man does not know his real nature. Surrendering completely to His will makes us possible to rid us of all the negative emotions and thus live a peaceful life thenceforth. In Bhagwad Gita it has been said: A man engaged in devotional service rids himself of both good and bad reactions even in this life. Therefore strive for Yoga which is the art of all work. It can deliver us of all the bad traits. As the fire can destroy the dry grass, in the similar manner chanting the holy name of God knowingly or unknowingly burns anger, greed, lust, jealousy and ego which help us relieve us off all the material bondages. When all these bondages are remove then we live a purposeful life, free from any arrogance. Living in such ecosystem will generate goodwill and joyous feelings for us.
Initially, our journey for any action starts with thoughts, desires, wishes which manifest through our action or karma. The thoughts or aspiration which cannot be expressed or manifested into action become useless and hence are considered as dead thoughts. All the thoughts which we possess are the result of eternal energies which if not utilized sinerely will lose its sheen and ultimately either become ineffective or die ultimately.
KARMA IS THE RESULT OF OUR POSITIVE ATTITUDE
Thought energy while it is put into action or karma yields fruits ultimately. This action could be physical, mental and emotional. Our Karma is fundamentally based on our thoughts, attitude, desires, behavior, habit, circumstances etc. When all the parameters are met,, then our karma too is fructified perfectly. It should also be understood that if our thoughts, desires, etc. are negatively oriented then our Karma too would be construed as negative; which divests the individual concerned lose credit karmic points earned earlier on. In other words, positive energy generated through positive thoughts create conditions for positive outcome. Subsequently, a chain reaction starts; positive karmic deeds yields positive outcome and vice versa.
ETERNAL LIFE FORCE (SOUL) IS CARRIERS OF OUR KARMIC DEEDS
We are aware about the death of our body one day, day and time for the same is not known to anybody. Though body dies but our soul (eternal life force) carries with it all the karmic deeds(positive or negative). It is also understood that in our life, we make use of latent energy in our body system. While our thoughts or desperation graduate into action. After action or karma, a sort of chain reaction starts based on cause and effect. Good karma gives us good results and vice versa.
KARMA (ACTION) WITHOUT EXPECTATION OR PERFORMING KUKARMA WITH SELFISH MOTIVE
Importantly, it is experienced that Mother Nature (Prakriti) plays a predominant role in our lives by creating situations and conditions according to the needs of the living beings for their sustenance. Every move of Nature is to create appropriate circumstance so that we perform our karma according to our needs and aspirations but in sync with Natural Laws and if we go against these laws, we earn for ourselves debit Karmic points (Kukarma). Therefore, it is in our own interest or will and wish (fully intentionally) either to perform good Karma or Kukarma since whatever we do we have to be accountable for the same. No excuses in any event.
SELFLESS KARMA (NISHKAMA KARMA)
In essence, it is self-evident that we are performing our Karma all the time; even in sleep and while breathing. Those who feel empathetic towards hapless persons perform righteous Karmic deeds. It includes not merely to fulfil the needs of humans but also the animal and bird world, whenever there is a need for the same. This selfless (Nishkarma Karma) or fulfilling needs without any expection from other side is obviously falls in higher pedestal of Karmic deed. Bhagwad Gita has enunciated that we can perform or practice Nishkama Karma (Action without desire) since we remain performing our karma even when we are sleeping or breathing’. Hence, whatever we transact and do not do, we have to be very careful and remain very vigilant and do not barge into Kukarmic territory in any form; in the form of entering into wrong domain of Hell Gateways: anger, lust and greed: which Bhagwad Gita very lucidly mentioned.
ALL THE SUFFERINGS ARE THE RESULT OF OUR OWN KARM
Fact stands out that while we intentionally create thoughts and transact action based on our own freewill. Nobody else is responsible for our Karma. With responsibility or accountability, there comes suffering the pangs of our Kukarma. Nishkarma yields us rich crop of our Karmic deeds. We cannot stay away from the consequences. Therefore, the best course of action left for us is to suffer the pangs with complete resilience, joyfully and with calmness as a gift from the Higher Powers without demur since nothing can change the outcome or consequence of our Karma except good deeds or action (Karma) we transact for alleviating the dosha of our previous birth or the past Karmic deeds. We should, therefore, try to live every moment as a most precious gift of God and in His presence within and outside us nothing can go wrong. Acceptance is the only option for us humans.
KARMA & CONSEQUENCE OF WARS BEING ENFORCED ON SOME COUNTRIES
We all are aware that nothing happens without preconceived thoughts or greed for expansion of territory or aggrandize or showcase their ego of the ruler etc. What is happening in war torn Russia and Ukraine and also what happened on 9th December 2022 in the LAC between Chinese and Indian forces are pointers of the same malaise. A Kukarma of huge order which the doers will not be forgiven by Nature! Also, what transpired after Coronavirus spread wherein there were deaths in almost all the countries. Those who became the conduit of spreading this pandemic is known to everybody. They are still suffering the pangs of the Kukarma. All this proves that Karma does not forgive anybody. Even the Ultimate Power, humans, rulers or the ruled cannot escape the adverse affects of their Karma.
TRUTH CANNOT BE DECEIVED BY FALSEHOOD – IT WILL COME OUT UNSCATHED
We may accept it or not, a fact stands out tall and no justification is required for its accuracy. No evidence is required to prove its accurateness. Truth is based on its genuineness like 24 carat of gold. Its exactness could be proven anywhere and at anytime; you agree or disagree hardly matters. Recognize it or not, it hardly matters, a truth is truth at any space and time.
Some may depreciate or denigrate, it hardly matters, truth comes out unscathed / crystal clear anywhere and everywhere. Some of us may follow it or shuns it, hardly makes any difference, it stands apart. Teach about truth makes no difference to the truth. In essence, it remains shining like the Sun in the clear sky.
Contrarily, a falsehood reiterated umpteenth times does not become truth. It remains bogus for all times. It has no legs to stand in any event. Drumming falsehood from the highest pedestal hardly makes it truthful. A baser-mettle when gold-plated from outside does not become gold. Its outer paste peters out anytime soon.
Crying wolf, when wolf is not in sight, can deceive some for sometimes but not all at all the times. Truth will dawn one day and that day would be disastrous for the person concerned.
Rallying behind a corrupt politician will influence the persons concerned also change their tags since corrupt persons will not shun their corrupt paths easily. Therefore, we should be very cautious in choosing our company.
We should never get attracted by outer glitter of anything, it could be deceptive. Also, the outer expressions of a person may be false, the taste of which you will get when you interact with such a person.
False-pride on anything or everything brings our downfall finally since it is the outcome of our ego which prevents us to accept reality or truth. Accept it or reject it, we shall have to bear the brunt of our false-pride. It is like a false-alarm well to remind us that something not honky-dory in this.
TRUTH SHINES EVEN IN DARKNESS
Follow it or not hardly matter it shines bereft of any following.
You agree or disagree on its existence It continues to remain as shining example.
Truth is eternal and flawless Finding fault with it amounts to reckless thinking.
Accept it or not, no problem It has to be accepted one day.
Suspect it on your own peril Since it is beyond the realm of distrust.
Its genuineness cannot be disputed it is as pure as 24 carat gold.
Appreciate truth or not hardly makes difference Since it needs no approbation of anybody however powerful.
Truth is essence of everything around It requires nobody’s support.
Showcase truth or not It reveals its luster anyhow.
Accept reality or not Makes little difference, truth has to be accepted anyhow.
Truth is the vital force as our Soul Which binds us with our common Supreme Soul.
Births & deaths are two realities For which there is no dispute whatsoever.
While we were born we brought nothing with us And when we leave this earth we shall not take anything is undisputed truth.
Knowledge dispels ignorance is a truth Some accept or dispute this makes hardly any difference.
Five elements, ego & gross senses govern our body Is a natural truth nobody disputes.
Health is a wealth Is proven fact, there is nothing to dispute it.
Falsehood remains falsehood Accept it or not hardly makes any difference.
What an intrinsic calmness it generates! While we utter the word tranquil It gives us inbuilt peace A still state of mind A relaxing feel A feeling of eternal silence With restfulness abounding Away from clamor And a lot of confusion Created by our wandering mind Which dashes From one thought to other Without understanding The thought in its totality As a consequence, proving to be our enemy Like a monkey Which jumps from one branch To other, helter-skelter Creating chaotic state A chase in futility Bereft of any aim Bereft of any direction Thus robbing the tranquility of mind.
We ought to reflect and think How important is the inner stillness/silence In total sync With the state of our mind Away from bondages Freedom from needless desires Of physical and emotional attachments One thing should never be ignored Whence our needs are limited Thence our desires for more And still more Just get evaporated in thin air Tranquil state Comes to fore in our psyche Generating in its wake Calm state With nothing at stake A detached mindset Where rule of Providence prevails Where the needs of our Soul are cared With love, compassion, acceptance With profusion of appreciation With all the care of body, mind and soul needs The return-gift for us is eternal satisfaction With tranquility in abundance.
A TRANQUIL STATE OF MIND
The literal meaning of tranquility is stillness of mind, inner silence in abundance, quiet bereft of chaotic state, prevalence of inner peace consistent with our need, calmness in any situation and condition. A tranquil state of mind is acquired when we’ve total control over our mind and body. Meaning of peace (aman) is quietness, being in harmony, tranquility or without any sort of disorder. In other words, it is a state which is devoid of any disturbance. It is a sort of harmony in the personal relationship in relation to other members of the society.
EXPRESSION OF PEACE & TRANQUILITY ON THE FACES
From the expressions on the faces of the people we come across in our daily life, if we try, we can come to know about our state of mind. The adage, face is the index of mind, and we can read everything that lies inside our inner self. Anxiety, lack of confidence, and dullness are writ large on the faces. There may be a smile sometimes, here and there, but that too is momentary – apparently true happiness is lacking. We may see very few people with calmness along with brimming with self-confidence.
In Bible, it has rightly been said: a tranquil heart is life to the body, but jealousy is the rottenness to the bones. Tranquility of mind is attained when knowledge and action thereof are used to remove ignorance, for our enlightenment.
CONTROL OF MIND IS ESSENTIAL FOR LIVING A PURPOSEFUL EXISTENCE
Tranquility is also attained when we control our monkey mind which keeps on wavering from one thought to other purposelessly. we are at peace with our own self when we act on the advice of Lord Krishna to Prince Arjuna who was in moral dilemma and was in utter confusion whether to fight his own in the battlefield of Kurukshetra or not. Then Lord Krishna gives his erudite advice that it was his moral duty to fight evil in the form of Prince Dhrodhana and others, being Kashtriya. He tells Arjuna: ‘Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is’. Proving that when we are in confused state of mind, we cannot act sensibly and are lead astray. In such situations, self-belief with total control of our mind comes to our succor. All the wisdom filled advice enhances his self-belief and he agreed to fight his kiths and kin in the battle field.
ENEMIES OF PEACE OF MIND
in essence, when our desires are not met from our earnest earnings, we adopt illegitimate means to satisfy our needs. The greed for more hinds us in the web of our own making like a silk-worm which makes its cocoon with its own saliva and gets sucked inside after it completes its task and loses itself. We humans too get sucked by three undesirable traits if greed for more, longing for more wealth to enhance our status in the society – I shall say to pamper our egocentric tendencies. It may be, while following illegal path to satisfy our needs/desires, we are always in constant fear of law enforcement agencies lest we are caught with our fingers/hands hand while our hand is in the till. When caught, the consequences could be disheartening. The recent example of a jailed minister in Delhi, caught following corrupt practice to satiate his desires. Those who follow this course, will earn for themselves anxiety, depression and stress in the process. Their names and fame get sullied. Apart from this, the recent example of ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine is another example. This war has brought deaths and destruction of men and materials. This war is wreaking havoc on every front. Many families have lost their love ones and many homes have been destroyed. And all this is due to insatiable desires of the ruler(s)? Proving that voracious desires could be enemy of peace and tranquility globally since this war has caused food-shortage and the mineral oil prices have shot northward.
BESIDES TAKING CARE OF OUR BODY & MIND, WE SHOULD TAKE CARE OF OUR ETERNAL SOUL
It is paramount that besides taking care of our body (by taking proper diet). so that it performs all the functions without interruption. Care should also be taken that the wayward tendencies of our mind too are brought under control. After having done so, we can concentrate on our soul by imbibing the needed traits of inculcating love & affection for others, self-love, acceptance, appreciation, compassion for others including positive attitude.
For enrichment of our soul pro-actively, we have to reflect on the thinking of communicating with others, stay positive despite hurdles, attain mental balance in all situations and conditions. creation of joyful environment for self and others including, last but most essential of all having empathy for others.
Having attained balance, we can follow a spiritually oriented existence in total connectivity with our Creator.
EVERY MOMENT SHOULD BE LIVED AND ENJOYED WHICH IS THE REAL PURPOSE OF OUR EXISTENCE
It is a fact that we all are here on this beautiful earth for a purpose. For a purposeful existence, we have to remain happy with the notion that everything happens owing to some inner mechanism based on birth, evolution and destruction. It is, therefore, paramount to live in accordance with the divine laws in tranquility.
NON-FULFILLMENT OF OUR DESIRES BRINGS ABOUT LACK OF PEACE
When our desires are not fulfilled, we are in for trouble, meaning, either we are not able to adjust with the environments in which we are living or maybe we are not able adapt to change. Either way, we are sufferers. Then we’ve an agent which affects us more than others is boredom or widespread dullness. This agent creates more negativity than any other agent of change. We must have observed what inner turmoil people experience especially in old age and in retired life when retirees have nothing concrete to do. They do not have disciplined directed life – like getting up on time, going to the office on time and become accustomed to day to day routines thereby remaining busy and escape route from monotony and boredom. I know a person, who wanted to enjoy his retired life peacefully with nothing to do but enjoy and while away his time. I tried to convince him to remain busy in some pursuit but he did not care. But within a short period of two years after his retirement he died. He died, perhaps, due to boredom.
CONTROL OF MIND AND CREATION OF PEACE
Reigning in our mind brings about peace, purity, tranquility beside the thoughts which are free from any delusions. It is bereft of any yearning for anything unreasonable. We live holistically and naturally with total detachment – good or bad situations do not imbalance us.
INNER STRENGTH AND TOTAL PEACE
For reaching a state of permanent peace and subsequently bliss, we’ve to explore our inner self and synergize our efforts to make a huge difference and earn peace and tranquility. This will not only bring about peace and also we would be able to know the true nature of our soul. Essentially, the eternal peace or bliss is hidden deep into inner self. It is just like a wave in the sea when the wave has passed, there is the prevalence of stillness. We remain absorbed in our own state of affairs and think that only external life is the best one – enjoying the fruits of work, earning our livelihood and then make merry – but this is not an eternal peace, maybe it is buying some peace, a temporary phase.
REMOVAL OF INNER CONFLICTS BRINGS IN ITS WAKE LASTING PEACE
But this is the temporary phenomenon in the real sense of terms. Total realization of happiness comes when we delve deep into our system and do everything which may help us gain calmness and tranquility. But it is easier said than done because are inner conflicts and contradictions which have to be fought with us first. Having resolved these inner divergences, we can realize our goal of inner peace. It should be realized that temporary peace which is acquired from external sources is no peace at all. It is impermanent one. For eternal peace, we have not to go away from ourselves. It lies within us.
Sikh thought agrees that: With pain and suffering genuine peace is not possible and that peace is not necessarily the absence of war.
PEACE BETWEEN COUNTRIES
In order to live peacefully at our home, we have to have peace in our immediate neighborhood. The same analogy could be made applicable in relation to the peaceful co-existence with our neighboring countries. Nothing should be done which may disturb the peace of others. It could be non-use of offensive language to bully others, hedge-monistic attitude besides respecting the unity and integrity of others. What is happening in our neighborhood is a pointer to all this. Twist to irony comes to fore when some countries want to lord over other countries and adopt big-brotherly attitude by intimidating other countries by raising trade barriers or dumping goods to earn foreign exchange. All these reckless tactics are enemies of peace. Although, now with the deterrence of atomic weapons looming large, yet positive peace is elusive and hard to get. Negative peace prevails on the basis of the dictum: Peace flows through the barrel of the gun.
But I subscribe to the sagacity enunciated in Holy Bible: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
PEACE IS INDIVIDUALISTIC OR SUBJECTIVE IN NATURE.
Peace of mind is an individualist in nature. When an individual does not feel let down or feel slighted by any event which otherwise could have implications on the emotional plane but concerned person’s modesty remains in the best of elements. There are people at high places who would like to slight or slender or pull others down, irrationally, in front of others, with an aim to show off without thinking about others’ sensibilities. Bossing around to a limit is alright but when it crosses a set limit bordering on insulting others, it tapers off the peace of others.
TOTAL DETACHMENT IS THE SURE WAY OF ACHIEVING EQUANIMITY
At best, if we remain attached to the fruits of our Karma, then, sure enough, when the result is not appropriate to our likings, we may feel disappointed, leading to unreasonable and unpredictable consequences. Remaining detached results in remaining prepared for any consequences; failure or successful fructification hardly makes difference to our balance of mind, in other words, peace, tranquil, nothing disturbs our mental equilibrium. This is in line with the wisdom contained in Bhagwad Gita: Perform all thy actions with mind concentrated on the Divine, renouncing attachment and looking upon success and failure with an equal eye. Spirituality implies equanimity.
CHANGE OF ATTITUDE FROM NEGATIVE TO POSITIVE IS A SPIRIT OF VITALITY
If we draw out and utilize our internal dynamism/mechanism or inherent potential, then, we can have self-realization or self-awareness. Having attained self -awareness, we imbibe all the positive traits by which we direct all our energies for realizing the purpose of our life. Know about our Bhagwanji by leading a righteousness life, feeling pain when somebody of our companion feels so, This realization brings us in close proximity with our Creator. Nothing makes us negative in our sojourn of life, hurdles for us are the stepping stones for ultimate success. Everything that we transact is done with the active participation of our Prabhuji. No hold barred. Peace so attained through personal experiences is a permanent one.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ENLIGHTENMENT ENHANCES PEACE
Knowledge is conscious awareness or understanding of a subject matter that is taken in hand. Knowledge or understanding may be with regard to the information and descriptions thereof about the origin of the thing, its usefulness and subsequently connection with other objects of nature and beyond. During this information gathering, we come across so many hurdles, experience them in different space and time. After understanding the thing at hand may be theoretical and practical in nature. Complete understanding of a thing in hand gives us leeway to act accordingly. Those who are self-aware know how best to use the knowledge gained under different circumstances to reach to a conclusion for a healthy living with peaceful co-existence with the person concerned and the surrounding in which that person is living.
EGO IS THE IMPEDIMENT OF PEACE OF MIND
When we are engulfed with ego then we may get some respite momentarily but ego is the enemy of permanent peace.
PAIN AND PLEASURE PART OF OUR LIFE
It should never be forgotten that admix of pain and pleasure are part of our life. When the permanent balance is established then we can have permanent peace.
Conclusively, it could rightly be said that willpower (nishtha) and meditation (bhakti) with focused mind help establish the abode of our Bhagwan Ji in our inner self and thereby permanent peace or tranquility.
